That was the first time the Ohio State D faced a Spread Offense like Illinois runs. Needless to say they couldn't stop Juice Williams late in the fourth quarter when they needed to. He kept converting those 3rd downs ultimately running out the clock on the Buckeyes. Great to see the parody in college football this year but this really muddles the BCS picture. Only 2 unbeaten teams left, 1 of which I believe would deserve a chance to play for the title if they run the table (Kansas). Lots of good 1 loss teams out there LSU, Oregon, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Boston College, Arizona State, Missouri. But it does look like an LSU/Oregon title game if each runs the table.
If LSU, Oregon, AND Kansas run the table, it will be LSU vs. Kansas in the title game. But more than likely, Kansas falls to Mizzou or in the Big XII Championship.
If Missouri runs the table... including away-from-home wins over either 11-0 or 10-1 Kansas and winning the Big 12 over 11-1 Oklahoma... they'll have as impressive a resume as anyone, especially considering their one loss (at Oklahoma) is stronger than anyone's, LSU and Oregon included. I know preseason hype has a lot to do with it, but I'm going to be really pissed if Missouri doesn't jump Ohio State tomorrow. Not only are both Missouri's wins and loss stronger, but they beat the Illinois team that just took down OSU.
Justice is done. Any team that puts Akron, Youngstown State and Kent State as their non-conference opponents IN THE SAME SEASON doesn't deserve to play in the national championship game. I normally root for Ohio State, but as soon as they were #1 and I looked at their schedule, my motto has been anybody but them. Whichever two teams win out between LSU, Oregon, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri will meet in the title game.
Upset my D. Ron Zook is a real coach. The real question is... Who has the coolest name at QB? Juice Williams Colt Mccoy Colt Brennan Zak Champion
Finally all is right in the world again, somewhat at least. I was starting to wonder how in the world the entire college football world could be so blind as to anoint Ohio State #1 again when they hadn't beaten anyone significant the entire season, even after they got embarrassed by Florida last year and were exposed for the paper tigers that they are. This whole automatic entitlement thing is irritating and hypocritical at best -- Kansas is constantly berated because they haven't beaten anyone, yet Ohio State gets the benefit of doubt and a #1 ranking even though their schedule is worse? (Not that I'm a Kansas fan -- I think they're going to have their collective butts handed to them on a platter by Missouri.) You'd think that after this season, voters would finally learn to stop overhyping these programs that are too chicken to schedule anybody worth mentioning, take advantage of a weak conference and automatic BCS bids and cheat their way to national championships. Programs like Michigan and Ohio State. But that's wishful thinking -- we all know they'll end up with top 5 rankings again next year, and we'll have to wait and hope that the next Appalachian State and Illinois comes along to put them in their rightful places. I'm having a hard time thinking of a single SEC team other than perhaps Ole Miss that wouldn't defeat Ohio State in a national championship game. Seriously. We need playoffs.
