What has happened? This is only the choir. Where are the ISO/Rudy/Cuttino will never be anything people??? -back to top- ------------------ "We've never been very comfortable with praising ourselves, but we're so proud of our new album, The Great Eastern, that we've got no problem telling people it's an absolutely fantastic record." Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but: -What if we'd run pick-and-roll for Cuttino, instead of ISOs, on those last 2 plays? As has been mentioned, Cat is very good at those, they tend to give multiple options, and when he scored those 13 consecutive points it was on the P&R. -What if Rudy had a better rebounder in there at PF, instead of Walt/Mo? Los is better than either in that aspect. KT might be, too. -What if we had anticipated that moving screen? Those are not, repeat not, going to get called in the final seconds. See the final Jazz game in 97. Plan on Steve going around the pick and giving Jason the jump shot, or doubling with someone other than the man guarding the screener? I'm not bashing, and I don't even blame Rudy for the loss. Alot of things could have happened differently in that game. I'm just asking questions. ------------------
Damn. GREAT review. Agree with everythin u said. I'm a lil pissed that big Mo din't snag those boards though! Great position but no board! How did he not get it the rebound!? Oh well... I guess that's why Shawn Marion's one of the best rebounders in the league. ------------------ PrEsident of The Danforth Langhford FAN CLUB... He IS our future All-Star Small Forward

Great post as usual, heypartner! Please reiterate once again that the Rockets are a good young team that is a player or two away from being special. IMO, this season is a rousing success, playoffs or not. Also, it's great that you pointed out that the Suns win because of "craftiness" and just plain dumb luck. For example, with more experience, Francis flops on that illegal pick set by Googs in order to draw more attention to himself, fight fire with fire. No one person is to blame and yet everyone is to blame. ------------------
It's hard to be negative about the game we played against Phoenix. I sum it up as a little bad luck and youth. We can play with the big boys, and over time, we will pull these victories out. It's hard to keep momentum rolling when there are poor calls or no calls, missed layups, and bobbled rebounds. I think Taylor may have been tentative on the boards due to his foul trouble, but tentative is one thing...when you have position like that, you have to go get the ball. How about Francis with 14 boards?!?!? Man, that is picking up the slack for Olajuwon. I would love to see an improvement on the transition defense. Granted, with Kidd and a guy like Marion out there, it is hard to defend in transition. But it seemed that Marion wasn't working all that hard for several of his shot attempts. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Great post HeyPartner. I agree with one of the other posters that suggested Los or KT might have been a better choice than Walt in the last minute. Los seems to know how to make the opponent pay for doubling off of him. He knows how to slide to an open area in the paint for a throw down. KT does pretty well at this also. I wish we had others that knew enough to do it. I too am pleased with the team this year. I talked with CD at the Tina Turner concert and he said they were one piece and a year away from being the real deal. I have confidence that he and Rudy know what it takes to get back to the championship level and their plan is working. ------------------
