It might be time to put in someone for Berkman, and I'm serious. I know Lance is one hell of a player, but he just cannot seem to come close to doing anything against Glavine.
Carl Everett used to bat left handed against Glavine to neutralize all that outside junk. Maybe we should have Merced and Ward in there.
If I were Dierker, I'd go with experience in the playoffs. Duh. Simple explanation for Dierker so he'll clearly understand: Vizcaino = experienced Eusebio = somewhat experienced Truby = not experienced The way Dierk has made decisions lately, I fully expect him to somehow sneak Jason Lane onto the playoff roster and have him pinch-hit in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs and the bases loaded... Say it with me now, Dierk... Vet... er... ans... Ex... per... ience... Go Astros.
If I were Dierker, I'd go with experience in the playoffs. Duh. He did that yesterday with Mike Jackson (World Series closer) over Dotel.
Here we go again...that 85 mph fastball that Jackson throws just got tattoed into the left field corner. Pathetic. DaDakota
... But my examples were all hitters, not pitchers. Therefore, I was talking about pinch-hitting, not relief pitching.
That was shanna posting by the way, not me. I know how to use the quote feature. Also, Dotel is a little more experienced (and arguably the best setup man in the league this year) than Truby is.
