What a day for the Texans! We just added two very good NFL starters in our new secondary. Everyone has already given up on Kareem Jackson, but he will raise some eye brows this year. Glover should do very well at free safety next to Manning! Drafting Harris and Roc this year really shows our emphasis in upgrading our talent in the secondary, and boy have we! Looking at our db's on paper, we have a ton of young talent. I couldn't be happier with the progress we have made on our defense this off season. We have added talent every where on defense! Joseph is just entering his prime and has the chance to be the best texan db ever. That's not saying much but adding a probowler at our biggest team need is huge!

This team is poised to really make some noise this year! This team on paper is as talented as any tram in the NFL! The AFC South is really down this year. The Jags and the Titans are both in the rebuilding process, and the Colts are a year older and Manning is not even ready to practice due to his neck surgery. This division is ours to give away this year. Many will just pick the colts without blinking, but somthing is brewing in Houston. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a New Orleans Saints type of breakout season. Only 45 days until blast off!!!

    Joseph + Manning > nnamdi

Joseph has better speed, more interceptions and is close on coverage skills to nnamdi, only difference is Joseph is younger but has had injury issues.

Great move and I wanted Joseph over Nnamdi from the start do to age and ball hawk skills- Joseph just must stay healthy, he is a smaller corner.

Manning is a huge upgrade, the Texans have not had a hard hitting safety that has a high football IQ and can cover, he has good closing speed.

If Quinn turns out at FS we can be going from the worst secondary in the AFC to one of the best.

The big question mark is who is the other corner? Can Jackson play? I don't know, Wade uses alot of disquised zones, alot of 2 deep stuff, I am not so sure that we shouldn't at least try for one more veteran corner who would be more consistent that Jackson, however if nothing else is done this defense will improve dramatically.

We are going to make the playoffs as long as we avoid serious injury issues.

Love the Manning signing, but Rhester, football IQ is actually a knock on Manning. Makes mental mistakes.

Still, good player. I was pushing him. So glad to get him. His impact on ST will be underrated as well. The kick return game has been so bad...

Unbelievable. I've been super-critical of Rick Smith and the Texans front office for quite a while. I was very skeptical they'd pull this off. Hats off to them for a TREMENDOUS job in addressing the secondary through free agency. The more I think about all of this, the more I love it.

His sarcasm was always more on the junior level.

Hard to not be excited about the Texans' season, but we've been there before. Lord knows having *anything* to be excited about is nice.

I feel you but the failure to sign Aso was not due to a front office flub up this time. It should have been been obvious even to those true believers OD'd on battle red koolaid that once the Texans offered Aso $14M and he didn't take it that his agents were using the Texans' offer to drive up the price. By yesterday afternoon, SF had already cut Clements saving $15M and was going after Joseph. To their credit the Texans made a smart move and got the 2nd best corner available. I ask you: exactly how much would you have paid Aso? $16M? $18M? $20M? And then what? Who else could they have signed after paying that? Now this front office may still fail to deliver a playoff berth and when that happens, you will be well within you rights to give them an F+ but to b**** them out over this is being more than a little silly.

I, for one, enjoy Max's sarcasm mostly because it's clever and dead on target. The only thing I see that's sophomoric is the tone of your post. It's not as if he's been completely unreasonable by slamming a winning team and organization here (Winning team? Texans? Riiiiigggghhhtttt). I find smug attitudes like yours amusing. The Texans from the owner on down have done the best impersonation of an inept, clueless organization that couldn't find their collective asses in a dark closet with a flashlight and instructions from the start and yet, anyone who dares to call them out on this is attacked for being too sarcastic and "negative".

Now, if you want to hear nothing but stories of sunshine and roses about the Texans, I suggest that you stop reading here and subscribe exclusively to John McClain's twitter feed and blog. And you'd better stock up on the Tums because swallowing all of that pompous BS will leave you with an epic case of heartburn.
