That had nothing to do with why people had a bitter taste in their mouth. The fact that he was an average at best CB, asking to be paid as much as one of the best in the league is why people had a bad taste. Pre injury Dunta might have been worth it. Post injury Dunta, who seemed completely unaware of the fact that he was nothing but underwhelming.

If the Texans had bent to his will, they would be stuck under that garbage contract for the next 4 years. I'm happy to let him keep Atlanta a sub Top-20 pass defense for the foreseeable future instead of us.

I never saw the video of that injury, but I don't think I want to.

You are clearly lost. Must have thought it was someone else who signed one of the best CBs in the league. If Joseph is a C-, Nnamdi is a C, and Deion is probably in the B area.

    Get a clue.

2 articles on that thread state otherwise, both linked in the first page.

As far as how I rank it, I said for me he is C- based on how tired I am of our front office and coaching staff sucking balls season after season, never delivering on a super exciting FA or the like. I probably ranked it too low but I just don't really care that much. They probably did well considering Aso wasn't gonna come but it's the Texans fault for sucking throughout their entire history. If you tell me my head coach is gonna be Kubiak and I have to play for the Texans who only once in their history had a winning season (9-7 mind you) I would also want to be compensated like no other CB in history.

Joseph is worth the money, only 27 years old, a true #1. Signed for a little more than Dunta yeah this is a good deal.

Sign a punter (Sevelda?) and a safety (Manning) and the Texans really have no weaknesses anywhere.

The D now has Wade and honestly a ton of talent. Mario, Demeco, Joseph, Cushing, Watt, Harris, Smith, Barwin, Reed, Quin... these are good players.

Not to mention there are a bunch of offensive weapons that haven't even begun to contribute. Ben Tate, James Casey, Garret Graham, Dorin Dickerson....

I would not be surprised if the Texans have a top 10 defense next year and go to the Superbowl.

I have the same exact thoughts. Glad I'm not the only one.

Don't feed me NFL.com drivel. Show me the quotes from the front office/owner that said "we promise to deliver a big name... "

Secondly, your asinine logic has you pissed off at the team for not being better in the past... and thus Nnamdi isn't willing to give a discount or come here for less than huge numbers. That's some pretty ridiculous reasoning there.

As much as you're accusing people of "defending" the Texans, you're ridiculing them for not being good enough in the past to attract free agents for less money...

It would be a pretty big D**K move for the Texans to not re-sign Vonta. Seriously, I flippin' love that guy. He was a BIG part of Arian's great season last year.

I see the NFL.com is not good enough for you, I'll try and get Bob on the phone for you.

As far as my asinine logic goes, if you get the Pats/Steelers/Colts or some other team you might give a discount to play there. The Texans are purely for $$$ and you would have to be pretty blind as a fanboy not to see otherwise.

No, its not... there aren't any quotes from any front office members there. You're the one saying the front office promised a big free agent splash.

Not really sure if any of this makes any sense. Nobody here is saying the Texans are one of the league's great success stories like the above teams. Can you only be a fan of them if they are? Why would they just pay 10 milion a year for a free agent if they don't care about trying to win? Why not just stick with all rookies and undrafted free agents? They'll still sell out every game regardless...

I thought people would be more excited about this move. We signed the second best available CB for 35-40%% less than you'd have to pay the first best CB AND he's three years younger. Heck, he's entering his prime and may actually get better. You've effectively locked JJ up through his NFL prime.

If you had signed Nambdi to a 5 year deal, he'd be 35 in the last year of his deal.

Those signings would be ideal. Manning and that punter lol

I think if we make the playoffs we could make a run like the cardinals all the way to the promise land...but we are talking about the Texans. So I will have to patiently wait and see

And what would your grade have been if Aso waited us out, went to the Jets anyways, and we were left without a decent corner on the market?

I would rather have Nnamdi, but this was a smart move on the FO's part.

At the end of the day, we still MADE the move though and signed a big-time free agent. Regardless of how you defend it, it IS asinine to get yourself worked up over signing Asomugha (who clearly was reluctant to come here), and then when the Texans sign literally the next best thing, you **** all over it because it's not what you wanted. Take a step back, and actually assess the fact that we signed a top flight corner, and are now going after a top flight safety. It's ok to be a little excited....regardless of what the team has done in the past. It seems like we COULD be on our way to a fun season.

I'm happy with JJ for sure, no doubt about it, but... wish we could have had Weddle as well; that would have been sick.

Welcome to Houston Jonathan, anyone with half a brain knows this is a great day for the franchise...... still some holes to fill though.

I would just like to say, to all my fellow Texans fans, that it is so great to finally have something to celebrate with you guys. It's been a fantastically fun free agency so far, and I have a feeling the good vibrations are not going to end for us tonight. Something tells me another splash might just be in our future tomorrow. :)
