The only one's who can lock it are Clutch and company. ANd they haven't. Why? I would have bet this thread never saw the bottom of the first page, but here it is 10 pages later still going strong. Is Clutch on vacation? Or perhaps Lakerspride may not be full of it. That's the only explanation. Why else would this thread not being locked after LP's last thread went nowhere. Are we witnessing the kinder, gentler Clutchfans BBS or does Clutch have more evidence? Very mysterious
Yeah thats weird. A few days ago, Clutch said he was going to lock this thread until there was some evidence and now this thread has resurfaced....Maybe Clutch knows somethign too......otherwise we are all wasting our time giving this guy what he wants....
Sura's Status To Be Announced One of the biggest question marks surrounding the Houston Rockets over the past year has been the status of guard Bob Sura. He had surgery on his knee, then had another vertebrate in his back fused, then disappeared for a while. He told friends and family he had every intention of retiring, but he never officially did so. On Friday in Houston Sura is going to have an official work out for the team, after which it will be determined whether or not he has any basketball left in him. We would all love to see the old Bobby Sura back in action (pardon the pun), but the likelihood of him being even a shadow of his former self is very slight. The surgery he had robbed him of much of his mobility, and it did so in a way that is unlikely to be overcome. It would be great to think that Sura, who was the heart of the team when he was healthy, could be back and ready to go. Unfortunately, that's just not what we're going to see. If he plays at all it won't be for sustained minutes, and his next injury (sooner rather than later) will be his last. Spanoulis Finally Gets Shot at the NBA The Rockets will finally give their fans a chance to see the 50th pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. Vassilis Spanoulis, who was acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in a draft day trade, was officially signed by the team on Wednesday. He's not the answer to the Rockets' perimeter needs as far as outside shooting, but he is a tough player who will add some grit and determination to the rotation. "A couple of years ago, we drafted Vassilis based on his potential to develop into an NBA-caliber player," said Rockets GM Carroll Dawson. "Over the past two seasons, he has shown steady improvement playing overseas and we believe he will be a good addition to our roster this season. This past season, he played for Panathinaikos-one of the premier teams in the Euroleague-and the coaches there did a great job of preparing him for the next step in his career. He's a big guard with a good outside shot and the ability to penetrate the lane." Good outside shot may be overly optimistic, but Spanoulis can certainly get to the rim and he can score with the best of them. His signing is an admission on the part of the Rockets that they have exhausted all other channels in terms of looking for a big two. They were talking to Ronald Murray, but he signed with the Pistons. Next they set their sights on Marcus Banks, but he'll be a Sun in the next 24-48 hours (more on that later). They also approached Scott Padgett, but that didn't work out, either. So now we'll get to see what Spanoulis can do in the NBA. In Greece last season Spanoulis averaged 15.5 points and shot nearly 62% from the field - due largely to his propensity for getting to the hole. He shot 37% from three-point range, but attempted only 68 threes. His aggressiveness and his ability to run the floor are what really had the Rockets looking at him in 2004. Those are also the traits they will count on him using if he is to help the team this season. Juwan Howard to the Lakers? This rumor is hard to substantiate. The Lakers have no use for Howard or his contract, and they certainly aren't willing to part with Mihm (as is reported) for Howard. Mihm is a serviceable back-up center who could even start on a limited basis when Yao Ming goes down with his annual injury. The problem is the move leaves the Rockets without a starting power forward. At the same time, the Lakers don't have playing time at the four to give to Howard. A variation on the deal has Juwan and Luther Head going to LA for Devean George (sign and trade) and Brian Cook, or Aaron McKie and Sasha Vujacic. While these deals seem somewhat more realistic - either landing the Rockets a shooter or a starting two - they still don't seem to make sense for the Lakers. We'll keep an eye on this, but our source in LA says any talk of Juwan Howard coming to the Lakers is just offseason message board babble. The Marcus Banks Saga Marcus Banks had an outstanding last 28 games of the season, when Dwyane Casey let him start for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves wanted to keep Banks, but the free agent acquisition of Mike James meant that Banks didn't have a clear role, particularly in the starting lineup. The next stop for Banks was Houston, but like the Wolves the Rockets didn't have a clear starting role for him. There was limited talk about having a small lineup like the one the Mavericks used over much of last season (Jason Terry and Devin Harris), but that talk was short-lived because Jeff Van Gundy wants a big two at the two, not a second point guard. There seemed to be a slight possibility that Banks might accept a role off the bench in Houston, but when the Rockets made it clear that they were going to give John Lucas III a well-earned spot on the team Banks made his exit. Now it looks like he'll take a role backing up Steve Nash in Phoenix. Stay tuned to HOOPSWORLD for the latest on free agency and trades - and coming soon: SWISH 5!
If you wanted people to make fun of you it would have been easier to say something bad about Yao or TMac.
Do I have sources? You bet your a$$. Woud I ever throw myself out to these wolves and say I have heard the same thing? Hell no. I have 400 posts in 2 years and I do however have 10 of them in this post defending this guy. The last time I made this many posts in one thread was when some dumbass tried to say Wilt couldn't carry Jordan's jock. I don't defend too many idiots, in fact, my favorite response for BS claims is "crack kills" and "step away from the bong". Still less than a 5% chance we do anything with the lakers. Let's talk Petrious. That is exciting. Doesn't mean Clutch won't lock it when he comes out of hybernation. What else do we have to talk about? Have you read some of the other threads? These are desperate times for posting no doubt.
I think youll find this link much more informative: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=114777
My stupid cable went out but anyway I will give this guy the benefit of the doubt, but if he creates another thread saying it has been delayed further I am jumpin off the bandwagon. Back to the trade I think Cook and George would fit well with the Rockets but not at the cost for Juwan Howard and Luthur Head. I think we can get more for them maybe somebody like Murphy.
You are shooting yourself in the foot with a 12 guage. Back away from the keyboard. Too bad you can't edit. Big blunder, dude.
Cook and George, they give the Rockets more assests to use around the trade deadline. Not a bad idea to stockpile up on a decent talent like that so we'll have a lot more maneuverability once trade talk heats up again around mid-season.
Would you want Kwame Brown? The guy is literally the same as Stromile Swift. Great athleticism and talent but as dumb as a door knob. If Phil and his Zen mind tricks aren't getting to Brown, there's no way in hell that Van Gundy will be able to deal with him. If the Lakers are even considering trading him for Juwon freaking Howard, you know that the guy is garbage who won't ever amount to anything. I'll take Howard over Swift Part Dos. Hell even Swift could hit a jump shot occasionally, Brown gives you absolutely nothing. I'll stick with an aging and steadily declining Howard over trash like Kwame Brown.
Sorry about my Spanoulis statement. I was incorrect, based upon wrong information about his salary. Anyway I am glad to see that the Rockets were successful in getting him !
Actually, I'll lock it before everyone gets out of hand. Sheesh, you guys and your freakin' conspiracies. I was at the movies and Clutch is out of pocket on business. The rest of the Crew follow Clutch's lead on this one. You'd think that not being on the board for two hours constitutes some sort of government plot. Like Clutch said in the other, this is still unsubstantiated, so no reason to keep this open. If it happens, we'll all know.
