Really? You realize religious believers can believe in secular governments, no? Or do you believe every American President was an atheist?

    Are you really this dense?

Well, it was quick, and it couldn't have happened to a more qualified person...However, I don't think this will stop any of the fighting in Iraq...In fact, it may increase...

Right after mike cut off, Saddam looked to the side, to see if she was okay.

What, the execution? Was it recorded? I thought everything up to the execution was recorded but the execution was not. Maybe it was recorded just not broadcast.

    The can but...

    caliph

    noun
the civil and religious leader of a Muslim state considered to be a representative of Allah on earth; "many radical Muslims believe a Khalifah will unite all Islamic lands and people and subjugate the rest of the world"

    sharia

    noun
the code of law derived from the Koran and from the teachings and example of Mohammed; "sharia is only applicable to Muslims"; "under Islamic law there is no separation of church and state"

I'm sure we are all familiar with these concepts by now. Here's your bonus question: how do they support or overturn Major's major point?

I'm just curious to know exactly what "international laws and standards" you're referring to. You keep throwing that term around (a particularly amusing case was when you said that international laws and standards require you to provide for the security of a country after invading it.) Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing? Regardless of how you feel about the invasion (yes, it WAS a mistake) -- I would think any level-headed person would agree that justice has been served here. And for all those Iraqis out there suffering through the throes of political upheaval and civil war, knowing that the man who once tortured, maimed and killed them without remorse has finally met his due justice is at the least a small silver lining in the dark cloud over that country.

Get your head out of the ideological clouds for once. This one really isn't about Bush and the need to berate him at every possible avenue.

is this your argument? seriously??? because milosevic died while on trial, and no verdict came about before his death, that all international juducial systems are incompentent?

this is what your basing your reasoning on?

    I respectfully disagree.

No matter how you feel about Saddam, whether he deserved to put to death or not, there is no getting around the fact that this has everything to do with Bush and his hardon to kill a man.

The US illegally invaded a sovereign nation that in no way was a threat to the US or did anything to provoke an attack from us. The US destroyed a country to take out one man. The US has plunged a country into bloody civil war. Through a kangaroo court set up by the US for one purpose, to condemn a man to death; the US killed a nation's leader because Bush decided he needed to die.

This was nothing more than a public assassination.
