I have to agree with Chow as well. I LOVE the Street Fighter series, but the art style is not appealing to me. It looks like the classic Street Fighter formula, but something about it just is not right. I believe there is a correct way to do a 2D Street Fighter with 3D graphics, but this art direction is not it to me. To be technical, the distance doesn't look right. In the videos, when Ryu or Ken are throwing fireballs, they are dang near in each other's faces. The character model's sizes coupled with the close proximity of the camera on the action, just doesn't........... it just doesn't look right. I can't put my finger on it, but I'll just reserve judgment until I've seen more of the game.
I don't think this has been posted: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6JQIBn41kwI&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6JQIBn41kwI&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
^ "oh wait..." "oh wait..."oh wait..." you sound like a broken record... Do they not release games first to ARCADES and then to CONSOLEs anymore? Are they going straight to the console?
They still do. The arcade version of SFIV is supposed to be out in next month according to Wikipedia. Not sure if many places in the US buy the systems though (arcades are pretty much dead here), but I think it is still relatively popular in Japan IIRC. The developers usually use this time to fine-tune the mechanics of the game before finally releasing it on consoles 6-12 months later. I think Soulcalibur IV is the only fighting game (in recent memory) that won't have an arcade release.
Wow. I may actually get out of the house and visit an arcade assuming it comes to Houston, and also assuming Houston still has an arcade. I know they beta test in California. I may have to start digging through SF forums to catch the first impressions.
I play with all the characters, as the world warrior would. depends on my mood. everyone plays ken/ryu/guile, so I tend to mess with them with vega, bison, chun li, even honda. but i'll pull out the ryu/ken when needed or the super cheap dhalsim or cheaper zangief. however with the newer versions, i'm sure they've fixed stuff like dhalism's slide-throw, the zangief pile driver trap etc
http://www.capcom.co.jp/sf4/trailer/trailer5.html These are high quality trailers, this game is easily the best game to come out this year. Capcom > (Konami + Square Enix)X100000000000000000000
Thats how it is in Japan. Balrog was named M. Bison to resemble Mike Tyson but it was too obvious in America so they went switch happy.
