Turning down four first round picks over seven years is absolutely ridiculous. If that report was true and they actually turned it down they are truly an incompetent franchise.

So OKC is going to trade away a star months after he chose to stay and not go to LA? So the Tax must have caught them off guard huh? They Never saw it coming when signing contract?

OKC really needs to hire a team of people that look after their financial situations.

    Ahem....clears throat...or maybe Adams and others ;)

I don't see them making these kind of moves this season anyway, maybe next summer if this season ends up with underwhelming results.

Thib doesnt care about picks, even if those are unprotected. He's not going to be coaching come next season if he can't salvage this season.

Therefore in his eyes he wants equal quality players like Butler, which no one is willing to offer. EG is the closest Thib will get from any teams. But, greedy Thib wants more then EG, he thinks EG plus Tucker is the best value.

Glen Taylor is a dumb owner. Watch this blow up in their faces soon

The wolves are moving the goal posts at every turn because they just can’t force themselves to trade Butler. Thibs wants to keep him badly. First they reneged on a deal with Miami which resulted in Riley cussing thibs out and now this.

Guaranteed this is untrue. I negotiate for a living. Sure, I sell houses and it's different but there are some things in negotiations that are always true. And if I have a multiple offers I am NEVER outright saying no to any of the offers until my clients have agreed to a deal and it is written up and signed by all parties. To refuse an offer prior to having an accepted deal means you no longer have that offer as leverage. WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THAT?

Thibs has hijacked Taylor's franchise away from him. Taylor should tell Thibs to stay in his lane and coach whatever pieces they team provides. I doubt Thibs would quit and leave all that money on the table. In fact I think Thibs is trying to get fired and get his buyout. It's the only thing that makes sense with Thibs acting this way.

Yep, that's not gonna happen. Why would it? Thubs/Minny have backed themselves into a corner. All, it seems, out of either really dumb thinking on Butler, or really bad communication. The issue is, they don't see themselves in a corner. They seem to see themselves on top of the mountain, looking down on all the potential suitors.
Glen Taylor is a dumb owner. Watch this blow up in their faces soon
Yep. See above. It's kinda blown up already, with larger secondary explosions looming. The ONLY bright side is that Butler is uber competitive, and will probably ball out in the interim. Which works for Thibs as well, and probably why he doesn't mind the status quo unless someone makes him an offer he cannot refuse. But as the season progresses, offers won't likely go up, they'll go down.

If Knight is a negative asset (minus one draft pick) then Gordon is a positive asset (plus one draft pick AND a contributor on the floor).

So an equivalent offer is Gordon + 2 first rounders + fillers.

Maybe we can do Gordon + Nene + Chriss + 2 firsts + a pick swap for Butler. That becomes unquestionably better than Richardson + Waiters + Protected 1st.

Or we nuke this team, trading Gordon + Tucker + 2 firsts for Butler and Tyus Jones, immediately dumping Jones, a second rounder and Knight to the Kings (I'm assuming Jones is better value than the mid first rounder they're seeking to absorb a contract). This season becomes a bit of a mess without depth, but the next 3 seasons we have CP3/Harden/Butler/Capela with no bad contracts and no expensive additions needed.

Wouldn't Gordon Hayward meet Codman's criteria?

Boston has a glut at the wing and there isn't another team that is more willing to take on multiple future draft picks.

Hayward or Jayson Tatum would be worth 4 picks. I don't see any other potential obtainable players who meet the criteria and would be worth the rumored package.

We just gave a 32 yr old guard with an injury history a 4/160 contract...
I doubt he expects to make CP3 money... but I applaud him for having confidence in himself going forward and not just settling for a cut rate extension... He's been outplaying his existing contract for the last couple years...
But i dont think his actions regarding wanting to maximize his next (and probably last) contract reflect a lack of desire to stay with the Rox in anyway - although that seems to be what some people want to read into it... perhaps it an attempt to justify kicking out a guy who has been a perennial team player on a reasonable contract to gamble on a diva with a 1 year contract and an attitude problem...

    ...jus sayin...

I agree, he's unreal. That's why I think Hayward is a reasonable target with this rumored 4 pick package.

Well, Gordon for how good he is, he's just not on CP3 level, one is an hall of famer, the other in a guy who has never been an all star, i mean...

With that said, i'm not saying that he's doing the wrong thing for himself etc, just that if he really loves to be here, i find it at least a bit strange that he's willing to pass the chance to extend his contract just to "see how it goes in the next two years", especially considering his inury history and the fact that at 31 he's probably not going to get that much more of what he would get with an extension now. But in reality who knows, you might be right of course, maybe i'm just reading it wrong.

God knows we need to upgrade at the 3. (And the 4. And backup 1.)

Boston will have to make some sort of move; they have great talent but they will all want to be paid at some point. Although they can hold off for now.

I don't think either of them are available, but if you watch Boston games, it is Jaylen Brown that is being left out of their closing lineup
