Butler is obviously more talented than Gordon...

But adding in the pros and cons...
EGo is a team player that doesnt make waves and is on a lower than market 2 year deal...
Tomball Jimmy is a diva who has issues everywhere he goes - and I aint buying the 'he just wants to win' pr speak... plus he's looking for a max deal starting next year...
I'll call injuries a wash...

I just dont see swapping Gordon + future assets for Tomball Jimmy as a great deal... esp with Minnesota wanting guys that can contribute now...

Lets be honest... Ennis, MCW and Melo are not giving us the contribution most were counting on.. nor is Nene or Chriss... and who knows what Knight is going to be able to contribute... granted its only a few games in and they may still step up... but I'm thinking we need an upgrade or two without dishing rotation players...

We need a team that's rebuilding who values those future assets - not somebody that wants to get back our rotation players in a deal...

jus sayin... lets offer those future picks to a rebuilding team - not Thibs who's trying to keep his job by getting results now...

and before I get the "Well what other stars are available that we could trade for..." ...I aint talking stars... DM is supposed to be this analytics genius... go find some diamonds in the rough or guys that are undervalued... quit trying to pay retail+ on known commodities... jus sayin...

Trading away picks for unproven players isn't exactly the smartest thing to do though, nobody knows 100% if/how a young or under the radar player is going to develop, that's exactly why you trade the picks for a proven player and not for an unproven one.

Maybe Morey would be able to get a guy like Winslow or Taurean Prince for a couple of 1st rounders, what if they turn out to be Ariza or Rudy Gay at best?

I read a lot of "even if we trade for Butler we won't beat the Warriors", i honestly don't know, maybe at worse we will beat them next year if Durant bolts, what i know is that if we don't beat them with Butler, we're definitely not going to beat them with Winslow or Taurean Prince.

 

realism? minnesota needs to realize they're not gonna get **** for jimmy butler and that contending for the 10th seed in the west gets you nowhere - do you really think miami is going to offer josh richardson and 2 1st rounders? miami is stuck in luxury tax hell and might not even make the playoffs even with jimmy butler- this season and every year after that... why would they offer any of their future assets? the rockets offer is by far the best that the twolves have gotten so far.. and if minnesota doesn't realize that they are really the ones that are in desperation mode.. this whole saga is just going to keep getting uglier and uglier.

 

Nah... Butler is a MASSIVE upgrade over Eric Gordon. He is one of the 3 best wing defenders in the NBA. Arguably only Leonard is clearly better. Getting Butler solves the Rockets biggest issues.

If the Rockets can get Butler for some combo of Eric Gordon and picks, they should do it. This is their window with Harden and Paul... maximize it with Butler.

 

Perhaps... I'm just seeing more holes than 1 guy can fill...(insert lewd joke here -lol)... and with Hardens hamstring, CP3's injury history, Tomball Jimmy's injury history... it just seems like we're too thin and 1 injury and season over....
After those 3... its Capela, PJ, GG.... and a bunch of maybe's.... my thought is keep EGo and then try to add another decent piece or two with those picks....

not to mention, I just dont trust Tomball Jimmy to stick around if he gets a max money offer and someone willing to make him the focal point... I dont think he wants to be part of a winning team - he wants to be the undisputed alpha dog....

 

The injury concern is very valid. Paul is old and Butler and Harden have a lot of minutes on their bodies. Still the Rockets resigned Paul to compete for a title and the next 2 years is it for him, Harden is in his prime... this is the best chance for the Rockets in 20 years. Butler may walk, but I wouldn’t count on it if the Rockets win.

 

Thats for Morey and his analytics to figure out... Harden wasnt a superstar when he made that deal...
Not necessarily 'unproven' as undervalued... there's gotta be a couple guys out there that would benefit greatly from being in our system - as opposed to whatever dysfunctional team they presently play for....
If they turn out to be an Ariza - great... all i hear about is how losing him and Luc is reason for our defensive collapse... lol

Highlighted is the key... if you told me we got Harden, CP3 and Butler for the next 3 years... then fine - lets throw the dice... but if an injury could result in our not winning this year and Jimmy walking... while we have lost EGo for next year and we're shipping our 1st rd pick every other year for the next 7 years.... thats really dicey...

Haha. This just isn’t our season boys. TWolves management can’t possibly be more willing to accept our offer after tonight.

 

Not sure if/how important this may be, but this is the first game both Towns and Butler played well.

 

They will still trade him for Gordon and 4 firsts... they wouldn't pass that up.
