Rockets season over in July. Texans season over in April. Astros season apparently never starts. Gotta love it.

But the Mavericks and Rockets, according to sources, wouldn't commit to more than a three-year offer to the 31-year-old.

Minnesota's four-year pitch and the chance to team with Kevin Garnett won it for the Wolves, who have injected their backcourt with plenty of scoring potential by signing James and acquiring rookie Randy Foye on draft nigh

So much for the "win now" theme. They must think the fans have infinite patience for the off again on again "win now" saying. First sacrificing the future for Battier; now this. It is hard to take.

You know what? It is what it is...

Congrats to Mike James on his decision. I hope he and KG play well.

But now's it's ALL on Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming and JVG.

No excuses, No B.S. Just go out there and play with confidence, effort, and poise.

We will engage in battle with ANYONE in the league if those two are healthy. We have enough talent to have a chance and to tell you the truth that's all I really want...

We just need to fill out the roster and and hope that the chemistry that will develop will take us over the top, which for some damn reason I do believe we can go past the 1st round. Oh well, maybe it's just the faith I have in this team.

So everyone that is down about this off-season suck it up, enjoy your summer, and get ready for next year's season. It's all on Tracy, Yao and JVG...

Lace'em up boys and let's go bring the fans a party on the Richmond Strip...

I hope fans don't boo him. He did the right thing. 1 extra year is a huge difference.

    Good Luck in Minny

Exactly, I still cannot get that image of Mike James waving off T-Mac in the Dallas series out of my head.

Sad we didn't get him, but glad we didn't offer a dumb contract for him. It doesn't feel like it now, but this will help the Rockets in the long run. Remember we still have a TE and the MLE. Not all aquisitions are made in the offseason. I am sure the Rockets are looking for the right moment to

...by the way, if you are looking for a reference point of management decisions, McHale isn't exactly known around the league for making smart FA decisions & trades. The fact that he beat out the Rockets for James probably speaks higher of us than him.

It's a good deal for James anyway - he gets to go up there and be their #2 guy while he would have been a #3 guy here and a #3,4,5, or 6 guy up in Dallas. He will keep his scoring averages up in Minni so it will look like a FA steal for Minni in the short term(while they convince KG to stick around) but in actuality, Mike isn't worth a 5 yr deal even at the MLE. McHale HAD to bring in James(even if it meant overpaying him or giving him a long contract) or else KG would have for sure bolted. Now he at least has a fighting chance to keep KG as long as Garnett doesn't wake up and see that McHale has committed long term to a bunch of either aging or otherwise unproductive players with little to no trade value.

Score one for McHale next year and one for the Rockets well into the future...

I wonder what Cuban and Dallas are thinking right now?

If we arent in the playoffs next year I say we all tell the Rockets we arent renewing our Season tickets.

They need to know we are unhappy fans.

How will they know unless we tell them? Lets not just tell them, lets make it soildily clear, we want JVG, Dawson, and Morey all three fired.

Then and ONLY then will we consider coming back.

Gosh, how terrible is it when Marcus Banks and Cato are your great hopes  Pitiful!

He was never drafted. That's why he wants it. Can you really blame him?

I tottaly agree with you just when you think things can't get worse....a season filled with injury after injury after injury, trade the future for battier like you said, and now this....whats next???

they should've just thrown in the trade kicker and for those people saying that mike james was too old....wtf ever happened to we gotta win now????

the most eloquent phrases i can muster at the moment are:

why does the front office make so many poor decisions? why do the rockets have to suck? why can't we be good?

I had a feeling all along that Mike James was going to pull a Beltran. Congrats to the Minnesota fans. They will be a little better and it will take the sting off of Randy Foye becoming a career 35% shooter.

So it was all about the money after all. Didn't I tell you guys that Mark Cuban wasn't going to go all out? Contrary to popular belief around these parts, the dude *is* actually trying to avoid the luxury tax.

I'm not really disappointed. Having him would have been nice...but now we can get Marcus Banks and maybe even Trevor Ariza for a real supersized 2-guard. Who knows, we might even land Deshawn Stevenson via S&T. It's a setback not getting James, but we've still got options.
