    ok Let's be clear
we *definately* would have gotten Rafer with the MLE or TE
Unless I'm mistaken his current contract is not *that* larger

Mike James would have been Bird Righted

why what difference will it make it is 4 years and they wanted to win now..

but who said were treating him like lebron? is he asking for lebron money?

mike james is no lebron.. but hes not no moochie, drew, or maloney as well..

also I read somewhere that the rox and dallas did offer 4 years..

I"d rather get a second rate FA !!!!! Its done, James is gone and it was never about coming home. Remember he came to us begging us to take him back. Its like he had this setup the whole time...He's not going to ever win in Minn anyway. What I think is funny is that James said " they traded me from a hot city to a cold city and I had to buy all new clothes !!" Well Mr James you won't have to buy anymore clothes for Minn....Screw James...

are you saying even if the rox gave him the thread kicker you'er sure he'll still sign with minnesota even though he lives here, he has a pregnant wife at home, and its cold up there only because he wanted to setup the rox? so all of this is about the rox and and not really about him?

The difference in paying for James for 4 years versus 3 years? It's a pretty easy answer, just do the math.

All this crazy, pissed off posting about losing James......you'd think it WAS LeBron James.

Sorry, Mike James is a streaky player, and he had his first 20 ppg season with a terrible team in Toronto. For every quarter Mike James is red hot, he's has another where he is ice cold. I just don't think this is that big of a loss.

I can't blame Mike James. It's a business and he got the best deal for both him and his family . . . lets move on . . . what's next?

yeah one year.. so what? why can't we offer it to him? is there something bad going to happen to the rockets if they sign him for 4 years and we have a change of winning this season?

do you know your math? its the price that he was asking for and we need someone like him.. so right now which FA can give same or more production as james for the MLE?

Being put out of work is no biggie for a professional athlete with game. They are on high demand. It's the being forced away from home and underappreciated that matters.

Why can't we offer a 4-5 year contract for a 32 year old player that is a streak shooter? Hell, I don't know.....it seems pretty simple to me. Do you want to pay a guy his asking price for what would likely be two unproductive years?

Mike frikkin' James is NOT going to be the difference maker between a winning and losing season. He's not THAT good. Period.

Like I said, it would have been nice to have him sign with Houston. He went another direction. There's always trades......we aren't limited to free agency.

Remember what happened with Dallas when they would not match Phoenix's price for Nash? We all thought Dallas was going to suffer. They go and grab Jason Terry, and a year later - not 4 or 5 years later - they get to the finals.

The loss of Mike James does not put a dagger in the heart of our "win now" philosophy. Like I said, he's not that good.

I go back and forth on James. He has issues and would be overpaid, but what else is out there? I am not enamored with Alston, but a James and Alston combination would not be bad and a James and Banks combo would be great. I guess there just aren't many other options right now.

So Battier is that good to put us over the hump and make a difference? Following the same logic, if James can be let go because he doesn't put us over the hump, then Battier trade is wrong because Battier doesn't put us over the hump either.

Losing Mike James is a contradiction to our win now mentality.

The bottomline is Mike James is worthy of 4 years MLE. Low balling James shows 5 million dollars is more important than finding a right player that's a steal at MLE in the Rocket's mind. Find me a 20/6 player at the MLE then we'll take about how passing on James for 5 millions is the right thing to do.

i wonder what the rockets plans are they trade for battier even though they dont need another SF. I dont think tmac or battier can play sg consistnely. I dont see them chasing around guards like micheal reed.

WTF? Wanting to set your family up for life and go play with a Top 10 player makes you a cheap prositute? Its about the money, its almost always been about the money for every player.
