IceHouse earlier asserted the fact that only All Star type players would receive a concession such as a trade kicker in their contracts. m_cable's mocking that comment.
umm... btw, no way houston wins the next four championships... if it weren't for t-mac, JVG would look like a complete idiot.. our past 2 seasons and seasons to come depend on TMAC... HE is our team..
You can't really tell me that you think we can put a better team on the court next year than what we could have put with Swift, Gay, and Mike James instead of Battier and whoever else we pick up.
Why trash people with different views who are not all "dooms day" like the rest of the board? This is not the end of the world. Yes, whatever move(s) they make may not be as popular, but this could very well turn out better in the end.
any coach would also have accepted challenges of coaching rookies and letting players play the way they play best.. JVG coaches his style into players and removes/adds players as such.. when it should be the othe way around. (the coach revolving his coaching around what his player's abilities allow) and you know... you don't know that.. plenty of coaches have done well with bad teams.. carlisle, larry brown....
ok well this just makes ZERO sense if that post on the MJ Minny interview posted by rfrocket ends up being true. I don't see why we wouldn't offer a trade kicker. further if we aren't going to offer that then I really really don't understand why we wouldn't give him the player option on the 4th year if we were offering a 4 year deal in the first place. obviously a texas team would be a superior choice for MJ if it was about the money b/c of the income tax. so I think it becomes clear MJ just wanted a lead role on the team and he obviously did not care about winning. that being said I wish we had an explanation on why you don't offer a trade kicker. jesus at least do it for the reputation of houston. we must have NO credibility at all around the league after how we traded MJ and swift. win now. whatever. just freaking pay up a little and get the damn talent if you say it's time to win now.
Im just surprised James said he was unhappy because he was living in a hot place and then had to move to Antarctica. What does he think Minny is going to be like. I dont blame him for taking more money but dont whine about being traded and having to move when you are making millions of dollars a year playing a game most of us do for free. I see him still getting stats next year but not sniffing the playoffs like he did this year.
Jerry36 I probably have lost a few brain cells over the years, but that's not relevant to this discussion. I'm just saying that there is more to this than giving up Gay and Swift or not signing Mike James. There's a large mosaic being painted by CD and we can't see it all yet.
Just dvr'd Ch 2. They had James on. I'll attempt another YouTube. I missed Ch11 and ch 13 had nothing on.
I been waiting ten years for the painting to show up, but it goes to show you that CD is not the artist we had been hoping for.
Should be up shortly: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qaBREi6joTg"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qaBREi6joTg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="600" height="350"></embed></object>
Correct. We are blessed to have landed Tmac and Yao. However a monkey who picks substitute players off a roster sheet could have done better assembling a team around them. It is in fact hard to imagine a worse team (while still consisting of NBA players) around Yao and Tmac than we can have. One average starter whose ideal position is our best player's position (Battier), two bottom of the barrell NBA starters if they are starters at all (whomever starts after Yao, Tmac and Bat), and no quality bench. Work on winning now, or plan for 5 years. We are lead by schitzos that can't pick a vision and stick to it. Once we went with Batt the motion is to get players who are players NOW, not unproven guys who might develop over time. Dallas really didn't need Mike James, a small combo guard (they got Terry and Harris already). As solid as James is, just really isn't in their needs except as a trade asset down the line. It was a smart play because James was a great value for the MLE, but it wasn't a play for Dallas' needs. Correct. Funny thing is we had Posey and let him go for a 4 year MLE, and probably could have had Walker last year. Our alternatives--Swift and Pike (not to mention James for Alston--who we now are stuck with at a longer contract than what James would have been)--have revealed we have very bad evaluations of players. Again this just to show how amazingly bad we have done since the Tmac trade, and with better judgement--Posey, Walker, James, etc., we would be right there as an elite team. Even the Rockets know this is a HUGE hit. CD or someone above him reigning him cost the franchise dearly. Some of you want to stick your head in the mud, but Mike James was by far the best option to help us the next few years, and winning the next few years WAS the course set in motion with the Battier deal. Also remember with Swift (remember Memphis wanted no part of Alston or JaHow) and #8 pick (Gay) gone, we have almost no assets to trade for. We suck (at least beyond Tmac and Yao, who we were more lucky than good to land), and we largely deserve to.
omg what a damn waste of the FA season so far. 3 weeks and we get nothing. the gay trade is beginning to burn again...
