75% of this board is overly infatuated with young players, what is your point. It's always been that way. See the feeling about Marcus Banks. Secondly, I'm not betting you 50 bucks over something like that, and I don't see how a trade kicker is unreasonable for a guy who has played for 6 NBA teams. I'm sure when we dealt Jim Jackson to NO he wished he had a trade kicker. It's called wanting some form of stability. And like I said, when the alternatives are dramatically worse, you have to be willing to make concessions. Plus, again, like I said, in real life, would you move to a new city from a job you like for no extra benefits.

Of course NBA teams don't hand out trade kickers like hot cakes, but I don't see how a trade kicker equals overpaying the guy.

And as far as some guys not stars who have trade kickers: Ruben Patterson and Mark Blount.

is this your first foray into the world of big league sports? you want to get all pissy (like a girl) at MJ b/c the team that already traded him once after a great season and JUST TRADED THEIR PREVIOUS OFFSEASON'S PRIZE FA SIGNING AFTER ONE SEASON wouldn't offer him a 3 year deal with a trade kicker???

so what is he supposed to do??? i still firmly believed he wanted to be in Houston (he said it himself), but he wanted some security from a team notorious for trading away their players on a whim.

    sack up.

i dunno what the final starting lineup for the 2006-07 season is gonna be, but this is what it could've been:

    mike james/rafer/jlIII
    luther head/rudy gay
    yao/deke
    j-ho/stro/hayes
    t-mac/bogans/novak

pretty good if you ask me

The only explanation I can think of is that Dallas is already good. They're not desperate enough to give into demands. At this point, we should have been.

Jokes aside, I'm kind of confused now. So if you're young and have potential, we don't want you because JVG won't play you. But if you're old and have any sort of unfriendliness in your contract (even it being one year too long), we don't want you. So who exactly do we want?

Me too. Is Dallas or Maimi on Banks or Ariza or the bobcats? V-span is a lock at least, sigh of relief.

How far does solid get you, when the rockets are in a win now mode?

I think this has more to do with James wanting to be a #2 scoring option as oppose to a 3rd, Rockets, or 3rd or 4th on the Mavs.

    After these 2 titantic blunders:

Watch the band aid solutions come again. Where is Ward, Weatherspoon, Vin Baker, Moochie, types hanging around?

    Oh I forgot, NYC.

Come on all you old knicks it is patch work time to bail water on the sinking ship called the ROX. Come join the team and become our starters and show us what you got left -or what you don't.

Bring back the mid 90 dynasty teams so we show this league what Old Dinosaurs have left.

    Who's next you ask?

    Sprewell,

    . . . OMG

I'm not sure how anyone can blame Mike James in this situation. He did what any of us would have done - he covered his own ass first. He would have been a fool to come here on a lesser deal after this organization just shipped Swift out after a year.

Thanks as always for the scoops. Respectfully, Iwould only caution that you might be too optimist about the plane leaving the runway.

Who wouldn't have started for us last season? I would not take J.Will over Alston. I would not take Posey or Fox over Battier. I would take all of the PF's over Howard, but that doesn't mean Howard is a scrub. Were you not one of the people saying we would have beaten Dallas if we had Howard that series?

Once again, the great job by Rockets. I knew it will end like this, just did not expect Dallas did not get him.

Im really okay with this as long as we sign Ariza and maybe a guy like jackie butler and because we lost Mj we need to get on the ball and get JL3 signed up!

I'm very disappointed in the fact that the Rockets wouldn't include a 4th year. We definitely needed his shooting, aggressiveness, and pit-bull mentality.

I believe Mike James when he said he really wanted to come home to Houston (building a new home, his wife's hometown, and etc.).

Can you really blame the guy for accepting an offer that included an extra year? He did what was best for him and his family. He never got the big contract like Marbury, Francis, and etc... He will be getting paid the MLE, so it's not like he was fielding $100 million dollar offers from various teams. And this could well be his last contract. Remember, we dumped him (just like what we did to Stro after a year)...he didn't leave us...

Anway, it seems like Mike James wanted the Rockets a little more than the Rockets wanted Mike James.

Only Minnesota was desperate, because, well you have to talk afro-american players into living in Minnesota.

So ya like ice fishin Mike?

This is one thread that needs to be brought back up after CD fills in the blanks on our roster. You people need to stop your crying.Listen,I don't have blind faith, but I have more faith in the Rockets organization right now than anytime in recent history.I know everyone's on the edge of their seat waiting for that next move.(esp. since many feel we were screwed over in the Battier deal)But giive things time to play out.CD and Les have a history of making BIG deals. You guys will forget all about "losing Mike James",when we're contending for it all...Just chill a bit longer.
