All three of those players would have started for us last season. Once again...all three of those players would have started for us last season and no one on our team is as dominate as Shaq was when he was in LA and again all of those players would start on the Rockets. Alston would probably not even make that team and if he did he would ride the pine. The problem is that those players are being asked to start. Only Battier is starter quality and we have no-one and I mean no one of any real value backing them up.
Totally agree with u man. People let's just wait and see instead of already crying for the next season. I hope we go for Flip Murray instead of Banks or Ariza.
$6M in the first team of a long-term deal??? To a player who would NOT have averaged close to 20 ppg with the Rockets last season??? I don't think the Rockets would have WANTED to offer James that much. Remember, he become worth MLE and above BY AVERAGING 20 PPG LAST SEASON.
I think that's an important observation. I know many of us feel that we have a terrible GM and front office, but most of us also hold the Mavs front office in high regard. Minnesota, on the other hand, has one of the absolute worst GM's in the league. They've had arguably the best player in the league for more than ten years now and have seldom had anything even remotely resembling a respectable roster around him. They make bad move after bad move, year after year. So the Mavericks wouldn't agree to his terms and Minnesota would? That says to me that Minnesota probably made a bad move and we should be happy that the Rockets didn't match it.
For the record, KPRC broke news on their website at 3:09pm before any other outlet had the information. We talked with Mike and you don't want to miss what he had to say about leaving Houston in our 6pm sportscast. Its pretty candid ... but what else would you expect from Mike.
The Rockets believed Mike James would be a perfect fit and made no effort to hide their disappointment upon learning he would be signing with the Timberwolves. ''I'm not having a good day,'' Rockets GM Carroll Dawson said Tuesday afternoon. He didn't seem to be excited about any of his backup options with one possible exception: Vassilis Spanoulis. The Rockets probably will sign the Greek guard and hope he can play both positions. He's not a great shooter and is just 6-4. So much for the best laid plans. I mean can you blame mike james?????? the rockets traded for him, then they traded him to toronto, only to want him back again??? if i was in mike james shoes, i would've did the same thing!!!!! take the most money and run!!!! the rockets deserve what they get for not being loyal to their players. i know its a buisiness, but i bet this is how mike james feels.
Totally agree with you! This is like the girl who gets smacked around by her boy friend and thinks she's the cause. The only other thing than can explain all the front office apologists is these guys posting all the bull corn actually work in the front office or marketing. One good thing will come of this: JVG is toast. He won't even make the end of the abysmal season facing the Rockets.
Geeze, this shows you how confident and able our GM is. Now, even CD knows he screws it up. How do you spin that. There always be bastetball left to play?
Plane Leaves the ground? Another cryptic message from Doc! ( I don't know if you were around when Popeye and his later incarnation Oilpere was posting. I was a newbie. My failing memory tells me it was him that posted in cryptic codes and I think he was plugged in with Rudy. Somehow his legend has been transferred to you. I think he got very ill, perhaps even passed away..... or went to coach in LA)
You are totally missing the point. Having his Early Bird Rights meant they could pay him any salary up to $6.2M. They could have started him at $5.4M. Because they had his Early Bird Rights they could have outbid the 24 teams with only MLE's. Because they had his EBR's the could have given him 10.5% raises instead of MLE 8% raises. Again, you're point was that he would have left for more $. No had more than HOU except the under the cap teams that didn't even make an offer. As I said before...it was never ever about not being able to keep him.
