Of course, it doesn't necessarily take an absolutely great team to annihilate OU. See Kansas State just a year earlier. It's also not merely going undefeated. If it comes to a scenario like last year with multiple one-loss teams vying for a title game berth, the one-loss teams who were ranked highest at the start of the year have the advantage. They don't fall nearly as far. College football writers need to do one of two things to make the polls fair. Either delay the first poll (like the Harris) until after the first month of play, or stop using the line of garbage of "I'm not going to drop someone because they didn't win with style." Let the polls be a true reflection of where you think a team belongs -- not because of trying to "be fair" to where they were previously ranked, considering that ranking wasn't earned on the field.
Michigan drops out of the top 25 after there stunning loss to Appalachian State and in one poll they are not even top 30 material. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex?pollId=null&weekNumber=3&seasonYear=2007
thats awesome! I love the underdog (except when texas plays). It's too bad appalachian state isn't eligible to be in the ap top 25 poll. This will probably be the story of the college football year. Hopefully they don't lose next week to some crappy team!
I'm looking for an Appalachian State T-shirt I can buy and send to my brother, who graduated from Michigan State.
Good to see Florida State drop out as well. After watching that game last night (comeback not withstanding), they shouldn't have been there in the first place.
