No way, man. NFL has far more parity. How many times do you see an NFL team go undefeated? Hardly ever.
There are more games in the NFL season. An NFL team going 13-0 (which has happened) is equivalent to an NCAA undefeated season.
That is still pretty rare compared to the NCAA. Also, there appear to me to be way more blowouts in college.
Also, you don't hear people screaming "greatest upset in NFL history" when the David Carr-led Texans defeat the soon-to-be-superbowl-champions Colts. You don't see teams romping to 73-3 victories. You don't see college teams turning around from a 3-12 season and winning the Rose Bowl the next year. There is FAR more parity in the NFL, and it isn't close. College football is designed such that the haves continue to have and the have-nots continue to suck.
Actually I bet the number of upsets per games played is probably higher in the NFL than the NCAA. Besides, in the NCAA an upset like this happens.. what.. once a decade? If that. Upsets are moreso a product of the fact that there is so little parity in the NCAA as compared to the NFL, where the talent gap between the best and worst team isn't.. well.. lightyears apart.
Wrong on #2. They used to not count these games, but they do now. That's why you're seeing more of the Michigan's and Texas' playing I-AA teams (I refuse to use the new division names) This will hurt them big time.
This is why, from my standpoint, the NFL will always be superior to college football. These mostly stinky opening week games are a sham when it comes to competitiveness. The NFL has marquee games every week and the NFL playoffs put the BCS to utter shame. On the other hand, for people who are married to a team or conference, I can understand preferring college football. Especially the SEC, which is the most entertaining conference IMO. Seems like every other week is rivalry week and the history and hatreds between some of the schools is very intense.
