    Since there’s a lot of outrage about this here’s my take:

    How anyone, not just in the trans community, can take offense to what he said is beyond me. The outrage about his special and what has now lead to shows being cancelled etc is ridiculous and getting way out of hand.

    The Netflix employees might have felt pressured by the LGTBQ+ community - who have a proven powerful influence (in the US) - and their intentions might have been right, but anyone getting upset at Dave Chappelle is in the wrong here. There’s just no other way around it, no need to discuss the jokes themselves, there’s no point.

    Dave gets so personal about his trans woman friend who committed suicide, it almost brought tears to my eyes. He’s a stand up comedian and as Ricky Gervais said [paraphrasing]: not everything you say on stage is your actual real life personal f**** opinion!

    This cancel culture and division needs to stop, especially in comedy! It’s one of the few places where freedom of speech should be safe. If we take that away, then where can people speak truthfully, honestly, without fear?

    did DaBaby actually shoot someone to death and nobody criticized his career? Yes
    Did his career actually get better? Yes
    Did DaBaby’s weird joke about parking lot sex and STDs for men at a concert cause him to lose work?

    There isn't a lot of outrage on this....

    The outrage over the outrage is far more vocal and prevalent. It's a talking point to spam the narrative about the left and "anti-free speech".
