this is SIGNIFICANTLY less. it's not just 2-3 mil less than the max we talking about here. NY gave up way too much for melo. you do this for lebron or the best player in the L. melo isn't even a top 10 player this year.
Yes, they are. Max contracts are scaled by number of years in NBA. That's why Amare's max is higher than 'Bron and Bosh.

Denver did the best they could out of a bad situation. I think they did pretty well. I guess they are going to be making several more trades over the next couple of days.
I really don't get the love for Nene. He said he doesn't want to come here, and he doesn't fit into our plans. We aren't going to win any time soon, so a good center, not a great one or young one, doesn't make sense. Javale McGee would be perfect if we can land him.

The fact of the matter is, Melo is a borderline superstar/all-star, and a clutch isolation player. You can argue that he's no LeBron... but there aren't too many players in the league that can handle isolation sets with his efficiency. You need a superstar on your team to win, there a few rare exceptions, but it's a proven fact. Even the Rockets had Hakeem. All that teamwork talk is BS. If you don't have a superstar, you don't win.
I think since they didn't completely got their team they might keep Nene and try and compete for the remainder of the season. If they would have traded with the nets.. he'd be ours right now ha.
