It'd still be 30c on the dollar but Denver needs to demand for Fields as well.

No way the Knicks would trade Gallinari, Chandler, Felton, Mozgov AND Fields. Basically the Nuggets would get the Knicks' top 6 rotation players sans Amare.

I really don't think the Knicks will be better than the Nuggets are right now, especially if they trade Mozgov (who isn't that great, but he can improve). They're basically replacing Nene with Amare, which is an upgrade for sure, but not an enormous one, and JR Smith with Landry Fields, who right now is equal or even not as good (although he's still a rookie, and he will obviously get better). Then what do you have coming off the bench besides Randolph? He might even have to start and have Amare play the 5. They'll make the playoffs obviously since it's the East, but I really don't think they will be a contender.

    PG Billups/Douglas
    SG Fields/Mason
    SF Melo/Azubuike
    PF Randolph/Turiaf
    C Amare/Shelden Williams

The starting lineup is very intriguing so say the least, but that bench is atrocious. Considering Amare has been slipping lately, probably because he played way too many minutes on those shaky knees early in the season, if you have an injury they are doomed.

I agree but as long as they can get into the playoffs, I'd think the Knicks don't care since they got who they wanted and will be after Paul or Deron next summer. THAT is when things get interesting for New York.

The Nuggets traded Melo to the New York Knicks tonight, a league source said. Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.
Anthony will go to New York, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.

Damn that's a pretty solid haul for the Nuggets. None of those players are superstars, but they certainly have a lot of potential for the future and a number of assets going forward. That being said, they are going to drop like lead in the playoff hunt this season.

I think they're probably ectastic landing Mozgov, looks like they may send him to the Nets. Fields is a nice player but they seem to have a couple more deals brewing. Not sure what Denver is doing, it's all kind of strange.

That's a good point. Paul (or Williams)/Carmelo/Amare would be a pretty fearsome big 3. Although I have my doubts that Amare's health will hold up consistently in the long term. Hopefully we can get whichever PG doesn't go to the Knicks!

The Knicks is just trying to acquire as many good players as possible for Melo. In comparison, the Nuggets walked away with, theoretically, 80% of a starting lineup with draft picks to spare. This is a much better haul than what Toronto and Cleveland got for their ex-franchise players.

i think Denver ended up playing this the right way. They get a great deal compared to what others could offer. does NY have enough good players left to be a good team?

Knicks ended up giving up alot more than I thought in the beginning. New York roster definitely needs some pieces, such as more size in the middle and better supporting cast. I guess things will be more interesting if CP3 or Williams look for new teams.
