Same old NBA. Nets had the better deal but connections and backroom deals give Carmelo to the Knicks, so Stern finally has the strong franchise in the Garden that he's been machinating towards. Anyone going to be surprised when an elite point like Paul ends up in NY with them? Even with Amare, this Knicks team still isn't as good as some teams Carmelo had in Denver. Stupid NBA
Am I the only trying to figure out how this new Knicks team is vastly better than the Nuggets team that also had Chauncey and Melo? I know Stoudemire is clearly a tier above Nene, but I think If you took the five best role players on the old Nuggets team and five from the new Knicks team and rated them, five of the Nuggets players would be in the top 6. With Landry Fields being the only one comparable to Afflalo, JR, Harrington, Kenyon, and Lawson. I mean, I'm sure they'll have a better record than the old Nuggets because they're in the East...I'm just not sure they'll actually be better.
What did Anthony do wrong? He announced he wanted to leave the team, would it have been better if he just left out of nowhere a la LeBron James?
the team that gets the star wins, this isn't the nfl. rockets fans saying a team that gained a star saying they lost; laughable rockets aquired mcgrady in the same way, the league didn't fall apart
Can someone help me fill out the Knicks depth chart. PG: Billups/Tony Douglas SG: Fields/Brewer/ Roger Mason Jr. SF: Melo/Shawne Williams/Bill Walker PF Stoudemire/ ?? C: Turiaf/??
The Knicks basically gutted their depth due to Dolan's impatience. A bad short-term move Sorry but you just haven't been watching Stoudamire this year, in fact his ability to take what the defense gives hiim - due to his ability to either 1) face up and drive, 2) face up and shoot or 3) post up and spin, combined with his abilty to get out in transition - is basically what has made him so difficult to stop this year. I know this because I've seen him alot, but it's confirmed because the stats don't really bear out your complaint - he's scoring a higher proportion of his shots from jumpers than ever before. 65% of his shots are from teh outside this year. By way of comparison, Rookie Amar'e took only 40% of his shots from outside. By way of comparison II: Luis Scola, everybody's prototypical "smart" player, only takes 55%. So you still think Amar'e is "forcing it to much"? Hell you would be better off taking the opposite tack and saying he doesn't force it inside enough. Second, your charge of them not being able to score clutch is pretty dubious, given that Amar'e is 3rd in the league in Clutch time (last 5 minutes, game within 5 points) scoring per minute (trailing only Kobe and Dirk) and Anthony is 7th. I've always hated terms like " BB IQ" which rather than meaning anything concrete, are just thrown out there in order to deride a player that you don't like for whatever reason.
Just glad it finally happened and i dont have to hear any mre melodrama. Hopefully we see a few teams make some moves, and maybe the rockets sell a bit
He had every right to want to leave (as did LeBron). The point is it's the obnoxious fashion that they chose to leave their cities that has people PO'd. To me, "The Decision" for one-hour is damn near as obnoxious as this 2-3 month "I ain't signing no exten-shun" front Melo has put up. At least that's the way I see it.
he didn't want to sign it, he didn't, how is that obnoxious. do you want him to lie and say, i didn't sign it but i might?
How did Denver blink? They were sort of handcuffed in that they probably wanted the NJ deal but NJ would only do that deal IF they got the extension. They couldnt get Melo to agree with that so the deal was taken off. Denver could have traded him somewhere and gotten less without an extension, true but I am sure they wanted to try to get maximum value out of trading a superstar even if that just meant the knicks. If anything the Knicks blinked (or Dolan was convinced by Rose and Isiah) they just gutted a team for a star player that they could have just have signed in the offseason to possibly a smaller deal while keeping the talent and picks that they had. I really hope Walsh gets out of there he comes in and cleans up the mess Isiah made only to have Isiah come in and throw it into chaos again. The guy deserves a lot better than that.
T-Mac had a list of teams he found acceptable. The Rockets just made the best offer. Melo's list was ONE team.
This. Nothing really wrong with what Anthony did. From the beginning he was really frank about it. He wasn't gonna sign an extension with the nuggets and he wants to be a knick whether thru a S&T or free agency. He didn't give the nuggets or any other team the run around.
Isn't that exactly what he did? Not that I think he's a liar (I'm not following your logic), but for months he's made it clear: I really want to go to NY, BUT....re-signing with Denver is something to "think long and hard about" -- same with signing an extension with NJ. My point is there was zero chance he was going to sign an extension with anybody but NY (which I believe was his intent all along), he could have made that clear on day one instead of creating this ridiculous MeloDrama saga that lasted for months.
I think it will be similar to yours but with Stoudemire at the 5 and Sheldon Williams at the 4. Turiaf backup.
Or if on day one he said, "Look, there's no chance at all I re-sign here. Do your thing." They could have traded him much sooner instead of allowing it reach the point that it did.
baller, hate to be a jerk but you're just criticizing to criticize. who cares about the point it reached, that's just pr.
