Exactly this is all the NBA is about these days. My respect for the NBA as far as pure, true basketball competition is at a all time low... I don't respect it anymore. I'm just one fan but people will still watch. Just too predictable for me.
If the Hornets trade CP3 to the Knicks, I will join your despair. But it won't happen. No way in the world.
Yeah. I don't see Stern supporting a CP3 trade. He wants the Hornets to stay in New Orleans. He even said he wants to make the team "unmovable" my making them a contender and profitable. Trading CP3 essentially kills the franchise or causes them to move and take over as the Seattle Supersonics.
This trade certainly makes NY relevant again. They were already on the up and up, but now they are in the conversation of people who can make serious noise in the playoffs. Melo and Amare will make a serious 1-2 attack facilitated by Billups. Still, the Heat look like they have more talent: Melo<LBJ; Amare>Bosh; Billups<Wade. Boston is the better team though. But if Landry Fields is still there, that's a fourth option that is pretty damn good at the 2. The lesson is that it's really tough to compete for superstar talent with big and/or glamorous markets. It is an inherent advantage of a place like NYC, Mia, LA over Houston, even if the owner is willing to shell out the dough.
Good trade for Knicks in terms of talent. They now have two stars. However..... This duo will probably contend for the lowest IQ star-tandem in the history of the NBA. Oh, and please get rid of that Donatello coach.
There's alot of similarities between McGrady coming to Houston and Carmelo going to New York. We had Yao, and the Knicks have Amare. McGrady and Yao being here was a big reason Artest wanted to play for us. This has been going on for a long long time.
Did you not respect it when we traded for T-Mac, when we were one of the few teams that he would accept a trade to?
Great trade, get the superstars first, then worry about other players, role players are a dime a dozen.
Agreed. This is exactly what Houston did a few years back. Now if they were able to swing a trade/ FA signing for ANOTHER top tier player then that would be ridiculous. And they just might be able to do it (Williams or Paul anybody?)
I think they are building a team like Miami is, get the superstars and over the next few years get the role players needed to win.
I think they will end up w/ a team just like MIA. I fully expect to see Williams or Paul in a NYK uniform in the next 1-2 season That is the new trend, unless something changes there is no reason for teams to stop.
Gave Rockets the much needed chance to win, and media attention. You only win in this league with 2 superstars, its the way it is now. Also Yao was never really a top NBA player, and TMAC had injury concerns as well. Still, it gave Rockets it's best chance to win since Hakeem.
I think Yao was a top NBA player for 1 and a half season before all these injuries. But I do agree if you want to win in the NBA today, you have to get superstars in your team and build around them.
So it happened like I said? Hmm. Not really hard too since pretty much everyone was thinking the same thing. Tuesday too like.. Well nevermind. Hopefully Rockets have something in the works now.
How come that glamour crap works for the major cities (NY, MIA, LA, etc) When will that pretty "No state tax" angle come into effect?
