First, I am going to argue with you whether we can beat ATL. My point is we cannot sustain to beat most of the teams in the league without Yao. Yao is the pivot of everything on this team. The hold he leaves behind is enormours, figuratively and literatively. You saw the old guns last season. The new faces, battier, he is not a consistent go-to guy. Bonzi, I am still worried that he would be in another dog house of JVG's. Novak, Vspan, well it crazy to expect rookies to step up big time. I want to believe, but I am reality guy. Not that I am negative, in reality, we are just not good without Yao. Maybe you are too positive. Ok, regarding Yao's return. I dont know shiat about medical things, but my wife do. According to her, this kind of fracture recovery all depend on individual case. It's laughable to say there is timetable for the recovery. You just never know and have to see how it recovers in the process. A surgery is not uncommon. I just hope Yao will be able to play again in the NBA.
I agree with u, we really suck without Yao. but do u think we CAN'T win 9 out of 25 games? it's good to be realistic, but saying that we cant win 9 out of 25 in a relatively easy schedule is not realistic. it's only 9 games, that's all we need. u said Shane and Bonzi are incosistent, you are right, but isn't realistic that they will have 6 or 7 good games out of 25? and the other 2 games will be just "lucky wins" where everything goes supposedly "right" for us, like what happened in San Antonio. I hate to be optimistic, I really do, because everytime I expect positive things, I get disappointed and the outcome will be negative, but this is not optimism at all, it's just being reasonable. well, I am not that much better than u in medical stuff, I virtually dont know anything about these stuff, but it seems like your wife is really knowledgable (I remember in another thread when some dude asked u about a medical condition and u gave her the keyboard and she typed a half-page diagnosis ) ask her if it's easier for younger guys to heal and if this kind of injury has any long-term effects (I hope not).
I didn't mean to offend you, it just struck me as funny, still does. If we lose that many games we may be around .500, but we will be soooo far behind, there may be no catching up. There are too many good teams in the West to assume we are going to at least get the 8th spot.
around .500 is great, when Shaq was out for the first 25 games 02-03, Lakers was 10-16, then they ended up at 50-32. I think Rox would be more likely 7 games behind .500 at the all-star week, Yao would come back after the all-star game, then they could end up at 44-38, sneaking in as the #8 seed. That's very possible if T-mac can play at least at 80%. and does not miss more games. If T-mac goes out again because of injury after coming back this time, I would say Rox should tank it to grab the top 3 seeds because no way Rox can make the playoff. JVG needs to be strategic with T-mac and players' playing time, I suggest when Yao is out, JVG should rest T-mac whenever Rox plays Dallas, Phoenix, Lakers, Utah, Spurs, Detroit. There is really no need to risk T-mac's health to play against these teams. Furthermore, JVG needs to play Vspan, Novak, J. Lucas etc against these teams and rest starters more. This way, it can extend T-mac's playing time.
good news today, Tmac worked out for the 3rd day in a row and he is feeling much better. his status was updated to "questionable" and there is a good chance he goes on this roadtrip. however, I hope he doesn't play until the new Year because I dont want him to mess up his shot with this r****ded microfiber ball.

Yeah wow who would have thought we would have done so well in that stretch without Yao. It all started with that blowout of Utah, that was the tone setter. If only we didn't have that 3 game losing streak (DAL, PHO, DEN) in the middle to ruin it. I don't mind 2, but we should have won that Denver game. But maybe if we didn't lose that game we wouldn't have had the motivation/determination to beat the Spurs in San Antonio. Regardless, we are better than anyone thought we would be at this point and we are much ahead of the "schedule" a lot of people thought would be necessary to stick to so we could keep afloat until Yao gets back. We were hoping for .500 ball but realistically thought we'd hover around .500 for the season until Yao gets back, we're at .667 ball since Yao's out and currently 11 games over .500. Amazing. Can't wait 'till he gets back.
I just needed to quote this so that SamFisher doesn't accidently forget he said it. Not one prediction came out to be true. Way to go Nostradamus.
Wow. We have some really smart "realists" on this board, don't we? Threads like this were the reason I stayed away from the board for a week after Yao got injured. 11 game losing streak? SamFisher, you'd be shocked if we went above .250? *This* is why some of us get so pissed off about whiny threads that pop up after every loss or injury.
