Yao's loss is no doubt huge. But I think we are overeacting here. Tracy - even the diminished tracy- will contribute. If anything I predict we will see him in the next game.

Sure the Defense will change- Deke will play more minutes and JHo now become untradeable!

Bonzi and Battier - hopefully will be inolved in the offense- and perhaps we can discover another talent.

Yao's loss only means that our high FG percent will suffer- so JVG has to allocate more shots per game to compensate.

THis experiment to build around 2 superstars and ignore the bench depth is in for a serious revamp. Adversity is good- we tend to find more about who we are as a team.

What's up with the 11 game losing streak starting in January?

    Are you serious?

For what it's worth I think Rockets can get 5 Ws in the next 5 games.

we are doing "wost case scenario", I mean, I am sure we are not going to lose 11 straight games, but I am just assuming that everything goes wrong with this team and we lose every single "close" game. I am sure we call pull out a couple of wins during that stretch, but people are calling me a dreamer already with only 9 wins.

my point is, we can hang around .500. and even if it goes the way YallMean suggested, we would still be only 5 or 6 games under .500. I mean, come on, I dont see any of the teams out of the playoffs picture right now making a run and "waking up". they are all on tank mode already.

Bonzi will play better and T-Mac will be back sooner than later. If the Rockets manage to stay afloat by winning close to half their games, the playoffs and a finals run is not at all out of the picture.

Check Lakers record when Shaq was out, especially during 2002-03 when Shaq missed 25 games with that surgery, was 10-15 in the beginning, then they ended up as 50-32. Of course, they had Kobe healthy.

Rox is 16-11 now, Yao might miss 25 games, let's say Rox go 6-19 with
T-mac 70%, so that's 22-30 with 30 games left. If Rox can win 70%, they go 21-9, the record will be 43-39.

Can 43-39 get Rox into playoffs?

A really funny thread; starts out with "we can still do it," and then lists a schedule of virtually all losses. Yea, the Rockets should be able to do that, lose most all the upcoming games. :D , LOL! Wow, I feel so encouraged!

Seattle has lost Rashard Lewis for 2 months. They are just as bad as we are without one of our stars.

I don't know why you guys expect Tracy to come back better than ever. He's going to be a shell of the shell he was earlier this season...whoopee.

I'd be shocked if we go above .250 until (if) Yao comes back.

Wihtou Yao and Tracy we are by far the worst team in the NBA.

Without Yao and with a shaky tracy, we are bottom 5.

    Reality hurts.

    LMAO.
Talk to me 20 games later.
Even if the rest click on all cylinders, we are still a bottom team in the west without Yao. Talent cannot be made up no matter what kind of adjustment JVG can make. Season is over. The sooner you figure it out, the better it is for your mental health.

win 5 out of next 25 and Yao's not coming back this season, and Tmac hangs up for the season after the next 25 games, that's my prdiction.

LOL. actually, that's the point

I am saying that even if we suck for the next 2 months, we can still "do it" and go to the playoffs and then do our thing over there with a healthy lineup and go to the finals. this thread was to give all the quitters some hope. it was intended to get the focus off this Oden guy and shift it to winning some games and hanging around .500 until the big man comes back.

the problem is, u are completely ignoring the first post in the thread which gives a really negative prediction on what's gonna happen and u still believe it's too good to be true.

I mean, 11 game losing streak, do u seriously believe we are gonna have an 11 game losing streak? come on man, I know we totally suck without Mac and Yao (even with a 50% Mac), but do u seriously believe the Atlanta team is better than us? who do they have running the show? Tyronn Lue. they only have an overrated ball hog in Joe Johnson. seriously, do u think they have more talent than we do? well, they won 9 out of 26 games to start the season, do u think we wont be able to win 9/25 upcoming games against mostly mediocre teams?

I seriously do believe Atl is better than us if they are not slumping. Have you watched them play this year? They are young, raw, and quick. Did portland give us trouble? Atl is that kind of team.
What makes you think 25-27 will put us in the playoff after all-star break? How about the schedule after that? Why are you so sure Yao will be back this season?

I understand, they are an NBA team, but do they have more *talent* than we do? I bet they dont. do they a Bonzi, a Battier, a shooter like Novakaine?, a defensive monster and a smart guy like Vspan? NO.

they might have some skilled young guys, but the only thing that seperates them from OUR young guys is the fact that they are *playing*, not sitting on the bench watching games. Novak needs to get off the bench and start shooting with confidence. that's what we need. u cant take a guy out because he cant defend. Defense is not a skill, everybody can defend. Ryan Bowen was the best diffensive player on the team. is he skilled? hell no. it's all about effort, and I am sure Novak is willing to put that effort. last time he got in the game, I saw him boxing out guys and go up strong for the rebound (even though he doesn't have much of a vertical), but still, the guy is right out of college, and u know how they play D in college.

hey man, u are being really negative. it's only a fracture. I understand that it's not any fracture and it's in a really critical location, but it's not displaced. do remember Rafer Alston having a fractured fibula? he was only out 5 weeks and he came back full speed, it took him 2-3 games to adjust, but that's alright. Yao can take advantage of this now and start working on his upper body strength so he can come back and destroy everybody and be dominant even more than he was before he got injured.

Yao will be back no later than 2 months. book it. he is still young, his bones heal really fast. be optimistic man, and dont tell me "I am being realistic here" :D
