One vid of the costume designer for Les mis said that during the actual revolutions, there were hundreds of thousands of kids running around the streets, so it's not that big of a stretch of imagination to have a kid on the front line.
The kid in the front line didn't bother me. I was just confused as to why he decided to it was a good idea to jump out in front and start singing. Moments like this seemed silly to me and took me out of the movie.
I thought I posted my review yesterday but apparently I did not. I loved the movie. I loved that the God theme was at the center of his life story. Some parts that I felt were pointless while they were happening, I look back at and think were an integral part of the story. Getting used to the singing took a while. The last hour of the movie was my favorite. Take your tissues. 5/5 stars!
Its a tragedy so yes its very sad. But there's also themes love, sacrifice, kindness and duty throughout. Not a movie that needs to be watched in theater. But u should consider getting it from Redbox or Netflix when its available. Definitely a must see if u enjoy/like musicals.
I think a bit they could've tried to play around with was Valjean and Javert's different take on religion. Both are deeply religious and take very different paths in pursuing it. Shame they didn't though, would've been an interesting side bit.
I was expecting them to as well!! it is a shame they didn't. I feel it would have added a different dimension and given the viewer something else to think about.
I just got back from watching this and I liked it a whole lot. It lives up to my expectations of the movie. Cat woman was really good as expected and so was the girl who played Eponine. No surprise since she is from the Broadway version. I was expecting more from Jackman since he had Broadway background and overall he did well. But the song I consider crucial to the Valjean character, 'Bring Him Home', he clearly struggled. His voice is just not powerful enough. He was more than passable on the other songs. Redmayne was really good too. I brought my 9 year old son and surprisingly he really liked the movie too.

LOL I would watch this kind of spoof a hundred times before I would sit through that torture of a movie again. Personally I hope it doesn't win too many awards, because the last thing we need is more like it in movie theaters. And if Hathaway wins an Oscar... ugh I mean come on, she was in the movie for what, 15 minutes of a 3 hour movie? Yes, she looked really really miserable, and she suffered totally a lot, and she sang that Susan Boyle song really heartbreakingly sadly. But no. The movie was dismal, the story was petty, callous and cynical, and the whole thing was at least an hour too long.
Everything was entertaining, except for the relentlessly annoying Anne Hathaway scenes. Shove it in the audience's stupid face, am I right? ZERO subtlety. I found myself wanting to shoot, myself, when I wasn't laughing at Anne Hath being butt raped. Did anyone else find it hilarious when Anne was randomly raped, and guys were stealing her teeth, and everyone was singing?
It's one of the most famous and well received musicals of all time. I think it just wasn't for you haha. It's going to win plenty of awards.
Oh I know, but on stage. Where it belongs. Seeing it live is an electric experience. But yes, on film, my tastes did not find it palatable.
