So just 1 hour before I depart for the airport, these first batch of photos became available. So as not to violate his Muslim religion, after all, it was not a statue, but just sort of a plague/monument of his jersey and his bibliography (I think). ENJOY !!!
Sorry guys.....just not that impressed. He's the greatest athlete to play for a sports team in Houston and that's what they remember him with? I know about his religious constraints but come on. It looks like a plaque at the zoo for the tigers. You might as well put Hakeem in a cage behind the plaque.
I agree. I know these guys were limited but I expected something else. Hopefully they make it part of a monument park like at Yankee Stadium. Nevertheless I'm a proud Hakeem fan.
Congrats to Hakeem! It's against Islam to have an actual statue of yourself. Kareem Abdul Jabaar doesn't and didn't want to have a statue at all in front of the staples center, Hakeem is being pretty lenient so stop giving him too much flak.
i think people whine b**** and complain too much. I think it looks good. I'm down for anything that honors our great Houston Players.
For the record, I like it... I was just making a remark about Drexler and his oddly timed awkward comments. Can't wait to take a picture of myself standing next to it...
Not sure if this is the approprate thread, but I got the video here on youtube during the half time show <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aSC4Ia1GS4E&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aSC4Ia1GS4E&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Sure, probably did... but I'd guess his response was to congratulate by phone, or at a different venue in person... because it is Dream's moment. Rudy is by no means slighted by this... No one mentioned Charlie Thomas either.
