The families looked like they had fun. Great for them. I thought he was being clever with the beards.
Uh....okay... if you want to dig that deep, cool. I just thought the video was kind of cute. I don't think they were trying to start a holy war. Besides, how do we know this was a denominational church in the first place? There are lots of non-denominational wedding chapels out there these days. There's one on 1960 and the Hardy Toll Road that has a reception hall (with tons of liquor) attached to it.
I agree - the video was pretty cool and cute. I even emailed it to friends. But I wouldn't be comfortable having that in my church, for what it's worth. Outdoor wedding or non-denominational? GREAT! My church? I'll pass.
I hear you. Like I said earlier in the thread, our preacher would have had a stroke if we came at him with an idea like this for our wedding.
So now you're blaming the pastor and members of the church too? Are you a member of that church? If not you are casting judgement on a personal matter between them and their pastor (who if you notice in the video is swaying with the music). You might not want this in your church but unless you are a member then you have no say in how that couple wanted their wedding conducted or whether it is respectable to the church or not. And I answered your question. If a Mosque or Temple doesn't want that happening in their institution then they don't allow it to. If the religious organization is OK with it happening then its OK for it to happen.
But who decides what is respectable behavior except for the pastor. I've been to church bbq's where they've served beef and pork yet how disrespectful would that be to be eating a burger in a Hindu Temple or a ham sandwhich in a Mosque. Swoly's argument sayiing would you do this in a Temple or a Mosque ignores that one those religions have their own standards and two religious institutions within even the same religion have their own standards. What is respectful to one might be desecration for the other but its up to those institutions to decide and not outsiders.
I thought it was ok aside from the two girls who just spun each other down the aisle. That was uncreative, and uninspired. If you're gonna make a fool out of yourself, you might as well look cool doing it.
We only got to have a few, so I don't think I could give you a statistically-valid breakdown, especially from memory. But, I think you're being silly about this. A wedding, even as a covenant with God, should be a joyous occassion and celebrated. In the Bible, people are dancing as praise to the Lord. If King David can dance naked as he marches the Ark of the Covenant into the city of Jerusalem, then I think it's probably okay too to dance in a church to celebrate your wedding.
There are references to dancing as a way to praise God in the Bible, so I don't think there is anything wrong with what they did. If, according to the Bible, it's ok to worship God via dance, I'm sure he's ok with dancing at weddings - even in a church. They weren't directly praising God, but it's not as if they were worshipping Baal and sacrificing goats before a golden calf. lol.
Dancing in church? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/F-hhaNxnSmA&hl=en&fs=1&start=115"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/F-hhaNxnSmA&hl=en&fs=1&start=115" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
LOL at the notion that dancing in church is sacrilegious. LOL! Swoly-D sounds like one of those Pharisees that was busy castigating Jesus because he dared to attend a dinner party at a sinner's house. Christianity isn't about ritual and tradition, my friend. Show me the passage in the bible that says "thou shalt not do headstands in church on thine wedding day" (or anything even remotely close to it), and maybe I might give you an audience. LOL!
Haha... this crap was just on the Today show.. LIVE.. they were performing this act again.... wtf? Chris Brown? come on.....
