Asik gets a sing-out today because of hitting a career hight 21 pts, he also added 8 rebounds and 1 block in only 25 min of play. Also, he introduced us to a baby-hook shot. No one saw that coming!
Yeah bro, no one saw that hook shot coming. There was a poster here that called it. Can't remember his name. They definitely need that come playoffs time. That run and gun stuff disappears in the playoffs. We start playing half-court and people don't like but I love it. All we need is a pf and a back up pg, bet no one has mention this too.
could've fooled me! but but all of Asik's misses are coming at the expense of Lin's assists and his makes at the expense of Harden's scoring total.... I like that he is evolving offensively. All the experts said he'd have marginal improvements. I think he's done much more than that and you can tell by the fact he has begun posting up that he has worked on his Offesive game and feels more comfortable doing that, and the Rockets brass want him to play a larger role in the offense.
I think Tim Duncan plays an indirect part in Asik's Career this season. I had a feeling that Asik would destroy noah at the christmast because he Had shut down Tim Duncan a few days earlier. in the first game asik seems to be unconfident and tried to emulate Noah's plays. In the last few games, i was confident that Asik would eventually contain Al Hortford and Robin Lopez. because in the last game against spurs , Duncan had shown him alot of tricks that shooting Center could do. Maybe in the off season Tim Duncan will ask Asik to practice together with him But it's team effort that really count, last two games everyone stepped up their defense
Unless Duncan retires, I doubt he will spend time helping a division rival's big man get better. But I do agree with you in that by playing against quality big men, Asik will get better. From the jump we know he can rebound but game after game seeing and competing against other big men, he is getting better offensively and less raw in how to containing those with skills he doesn't have. He still probably can't completely stop the more talented ones but the middle of the road and lower tier guys are going to get worked over especially as the team starts to improve team defense so it isn't all on Asik to protect the rim.
Let's vote Asik to the All Star weekend so that he can feel that his efforts are much appreciated by the Rockets fans.
@JasonCFriedman Updated Asik effect #s: When on floor, HOU D performs at top-12 rate & No. 1 on D. glass. Off floor: HOU D bottom-2, bottom-10 on D. glass.
Omer "the beast" Asik. But he's not getting love from refs though. Easily one of my fav players.
Seriously unsung he is having a great season for a guy that was almost 3rd string on his previous team and now one of the best rebounding big men in the NBA. With only Howard having better numbers.
Wow! We need at least a halfway decent backup. Damn, that's a huge difference. I hope the German dude from the Valley can make an impact. We sure need him to. Jackie, I'm expecting you to give him a pep talk!
Props to the Gobbler vs. the Mavs today. Another day at the office, another double-double: 10 pts 10 rebounds 5 steals (!) in only 25 minutes of play. The guy is automatic nobody complains about him anymore Also a sweet move on dirk to get the (Clyde voice) oopsy-doopsy doo doo layup
