I honestly wish that Seattle could get the Hornets. That city deserves a team and I really don't like the NBA "owning" the Hornets...

I disagree with the premise of your statement. Every investor looking for a prospective NBA team to own would like at one thing first: profitability. If you tank for a season and start losing , you will be operating in the red and the income statement will show a Net Loss which will not be pretty. This is why Les Alexander does not want Morey to tank because it will hurt the profitability of the team and he will have to operate in the red. Secondly, there is no assurance that you will win out in the draft because it depends on the ball rolling your way and even then picking out a player that will pan out immediately will take another stroke of luck. it will take another three years for your star prospect to fully develop.

thirdly, If I were an investor I would rather invest in a team that mirrors the 2009 rockets which is winning and selling tickets because there is LESS RISK and MORE LEVERAGE for me to work with rather than a team that mirrors the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Sacramento Kings. The Kings got solid prospects in Tyreke Evans and Cousins and did that work out for them immediately. Investors always evaluate RISK, and having a solid roster and a winning team to work gives you more leverage because you can easily package these players to other teams if you want Youth and Picks before the trade deadline or you can tweak the roster in any number of ways.

Fourthly, the scuttled trade actually resembled the trade for Carmelo Anthony with Denver dealing Carmelo in exchange Felton, Chandler, Galinari among others and actually got better at some point. it was a product of supply and demand . Value for value.

Many people talk about rebuilding from scratch as if that is what every investor wants when in my opinion a good investor would want LESS RISK and MORE LEVERAGE.

Riddle me this then. What does david Stern do when Chris Paul bolt in free agency. Who's he sell the team with then. They already lost David West, their second best player. They were already a mediocre team making the playoffs( more than we can say for last two seasons).
Oh yeah he'll probably just get traded to some other team for lesser or equal to what was in this trade. But it won't be with the Lakers. So there won't be any owners whining( Dan Gilbert and company).
And the Rockets were just an expendable victim ( we got screwed from the backlash harder than anyone in that fiasco)of some BS vendetta against the Lakers. Personally I thought it made them weaker.Decimating their versatile front court. And with the glut of talented guards that have come into the league in the last couple. I can't even say CP3 is still atop of the tier one guards in the league. On top of that pgs dont win rings. But owners freaked out and hated cuz the Lakers were getting another "superstar".

Fans in NO seems to believe this. Demps, who was the appointed caretaker and decision-maker for the Hornets INDEPENDENT of the NBA, wanted those guys. He wanted to NOT trade Okafor. He wanted to add Odom to Kevin Martin and Scola rather than youngsters. There's every indication that he didn't just want to tank the season.

He could be wrong of course. But he was the the person appointed to make decisions INDEPENDENT of the NBA. If the NBA doesn't like him, they can fire him. But they promised they wouldn't try to affect his decisions.

It must suck for the fans in NO . Time will tell how much fans will pay to see a team David Stern assembled.

That may be so but the fact that the NBA owning a team is just plain wrong.
I can understand the idea of helping out but they should focus on finding a new owner ASAP. This is travesty and I don't care if Stern's decision is right or wrong.

Thanks! Don't be a stranger round these parts. You'll find a lot of pretty normal and shrewd people like yourself on Clutchfans (if you pay enough attention that is).

David Stern is an A** H*** for sure. He is a power freak. There is no doubt the NBA is rigged. I dont even believe the lottery is legit. He is the main reason why the Rockets didn't anyone in freeagency this year. If that trade woulda gone thru, we woulda been able to sign Nene with the cap space created by the trade. Oh well, I wasn't happy about how much we were giving up to get a complimentary player like Paul Gasol.
