That call is atrocious. I know it's preseason, but that is absolutely shameful and that official honestly has no business refereeing another game all season long. The defender was already lunging at Favre before he even released the ball. The contact wasn't rough at all. But as is typical with the NFL and its pretty boy quarterbacks, if you as much as touch them, out comes the flag. I know people whine a lot about NBA officiating, but imo the NFL is by far the worst of the major sports when it comes to officiating -- and it's simply because of how they treat quarterbacks.
These officials are terrible. They can tackle WR's but we can't touch theit QB ridiculous. Wow and as I type there is another one. Wait it was OPI never mind
That roughing the passer call was awful but you can't deny that Favre looks decent so far. I know some people struggle with admitting such things.
Favre has been everybody's whipping boy lately. Not just here but everywhere. He's a pain in the ass with all the attention w**** stuff but he's giving everybody a small glimpse of what he's still capable of with this group. I'll give the old man some props. Hell, just last week I was the only one defending him in the "Favre Decision" thread. P.S. DeMeco Ryans with 11 first half tackles and a sack...am I seeing this correctly?
He's everyone's favorite whipping boy because a) he's a drama queen and b) he gets treated like he's an all-time great quarterback, when in reality he's a good one now and very good (not great) at his peak. No one to my knowledge is saying the guy sucks. His problem is forcing the ball and trying to do too much, which is exactly what he did in his one obvious passing situation (3rd and long) tonight, and it should have been picked. To quote Dennis Green, he is what we thought he was. And that's not bad -- it's just not as off-the-charts amazing as a lot of people make it seem.
