The problem now is that instead of having a 2nd rounder on a cheap rookie deal they have to go out and sign a free agent. They lose money on the deal.
Absolutely agree. Thought it was stupid at the time. I would have either cut him or depending on the cap hit this year let him play back up. It's laughable that Bob was lauding this as some kind of genius move. What an idiot our owner is!
Oh not defending the move, just saying they didn't just sit on the savings. As big as Hopkins' contract was, it is extremely team and cap friendly moving forward, by in part of trading that 2nd rounder. But make no mistake about it, Brock was a complete utter disaster.
I think though that we could have still been able to sign Hop if we wanted to without a lot of problems. Here's a better way of looking at it. Is there ANYONE who wouldn't reverse the Brock trade now knowing (in hindsight) that Romo wasn't coming? If asked we might have our first unanimous poll ever!
But wait, I thought the only reason BOB looked good was because Watson was amazing. How come Sean Ryan (who coached the last 9 TERRIBLE QBs) is suddenly an awesome coach after Watson...
With all the reports of heat between Kraft and Belichick, maybe keeping BOB around until Belichick has had enough(which looks like it could be soon) isn’t a bad idea. Just pipe dreaming but I doubt he’d be against coming here and getting to work with Deshaun who he’s a fan of. Texans should watch closely.
Remember, all it takes is for you to “leak” that you’re a good coaching candidate, then everyone will start reporting that it’s true and then you’ll receive a lot of interest. Have you learned nothing from the very insightful Fire BOB thread?
Yea and all the steals in later rounds; Cowboys secondary is pretty good despite all the talent they lost
Jerruh ain't losing anything to Houston he don't have to... And teams don't have to grant interview requests for front office people under contract. Don't be surprised if Lurie blocks Douglas, too.
