Except these teams are SB contenders with their QB's.

Would you say with Watson the Texans are SB contenders?

Even with Rodgers I dont think the Packers are SB contenders and are i the same boat as the Texans. A talent deficient roster.

They are contenders BECAUSE of their quarterbacks. Take the QB off the the team, and they will struggle to make the playoffs. If you think Landry Jones and Brian Hoyer can lead their teams to the superbowl, then so can Brandon Weeden.

The Texans don't have a "talent deficient" roster. They might not have depth behind the starters but the squad has talent. If you compare talents with the Patriots for instance, the Texans have more talent at WR, DL, LB, and S. RB is arguable. So is OL since they just lost both their tackles. The Texans have talent.

Hoyer did take the Texans to the playoffs.

WR, Give me Cooks/Edleman/Mitchell/Dorsett over the Texans WR's.
    TE, Gronk- Enough said
RB's Burkhead/Gilleslee/White/Hill vs Miller/Hurt Foreman/FA My boy Blue, Advantage Pats
QB Brady GOAT/Hoyer vs DW4/WeedMan- enough said
OT- Give me Waddle/Cannon over what the Texans currently have at OT
OG- Thuney/Mason, we can only hope Kelemente/Fulton are as good as the Pats guys.
    C- Andrews- Martin = Push

DL- Shelton/Brown/Clayborn/Flowers vs Texans, if healthy advantage Texans not counting Watt.
    LB's- Big advantage Texans
CB's Gilmore is better than anything the Texans currently have, I'm sure the Pats will be improving this area in the draft.
S McCourty/Chung- Give me these guys over Mathieu/Hal.

Just thought I would add the biggest advantage in talent for the Pats is in ST's

Even BOB would say that the Pats have a more talented roster, How's life living in denial?

Yeah. And Hoyer is still waiting for his first playoff scoring drive. He didn't lead anything.

No way the Patriots receivers are more talented than the Texans. We are not talking experiece or durability.

I never said that the Texans have a more talented roster. I just mentioned select position groups where they are better. Point is this team has talent.

Who on the roster other than Hopkins is a better WR than Edleman/Cooks? I would say that the duo of Cooks/Edleman are much better even including Hopkins and whoever if you take into account salary.

This team has some talent but not near enough to be considered a contender. However Watson makes up for a lot of the lack of talent on the roster. I went thru the entire roster and some of the positions you listed the Pats have more talent than the Texans.

Hopkins is significantly better than any of the WRs on the patriots, it’s not even close. I wouldn’t trade Hopkins for the entire patriots WR core.

As far as talent goes, I'll take Hopkins and Fuller over Cooks and Edelman. Julian is good for that system and he fits what they are doing but it is not because of talent.

I never said the Texans have a better roster or have more talent. They're just not talent-deficient like you're making it out to seem. They may lack depth and may have injury concerns. But they have talent.

Taking salaries into account you should.

BTW, Cooks and Edleman are very good.

Who other than Hopkins is very good?

Cooks is on par with Will Fuller when Will had Deshaun. Edelman is solid but he’s a product of the Patriots system. Hopkins is ELITE, top 3 in the NFL, not just very good. Hopkins and Fuller were tied for the lead in TDs in the entire NFL after week 9. You’re simultaneously overrating the pats WR core and underrating just how good Hopkins is.

Fuller is nowhere near Cooks, he certainly doesn't have Cooks track record.

Give me Brown/Julio/OBJ/Green over Hopkins, but top 5 is about right. Still a great player.

I think you underrate Edelman. He was Brady's go to guy in the clutch (Helped win a SB 2 years ago, never drops balls, is great in YAC and has had 100 catch seasons. A very talented guy who Brady and the Pats really missed last year. Has Fuller done any of these things? I hope he becomes as good as Edelman.

Cooks has durability on his side but he caught the same about of TD passes as Fuller although Fuller missed some games and had worse QB play most of the season. Hopkins is better than AJ Green, and on par with OBJ/AB/Julio, especially since he’s had significantly worse QB play over his career, and I can’t stress significantly worse enough(with a good QB Hopkins led all WR stats for 9 weeks).
Edelman is a product of the Pats system. He’s built to be in that system. Take him, like the majority of Pats players out of that system and see how good they are. Not saying he’s a bad WR. But if you’re saying you’d trade Cooks and Edelman for Hopkins and Fuller then idk what to tell you.

Building a roster in the correct way is always about salary.

Something the Texans org has yet to learn and the reason for the lack of depth.

Cooks was easily replaced in NO and so was Julian with the Patriots. You're mistaking productivity or durability with talent.

    Lol
You were strictly talking about TALENT. Obviously they need more depth and have holes with certain position groups. Just don't say the team lacks talent.
