I hear that Jay Bruce made an incredible diving catch on Counsell's liner that probably prevented a triple. Instead of a man on 3rd with 1 out, it was 2 outs and bases empty.
I'm very glad it's still baseball season. There's little better than meaningful September baseball. That couldn't be a sweeter game. After getting bashed about the state of the minor leagues for the past couple of years (and rightly so), 2 youngsters provide the win. Arias looked great. Saccomano gets a homer on the first pitch of his career? Are you freaking kidding me? GO ASTROS!
Great nite for the Astros. nice contributions from Arias and Saccammano. I just have a gut feeling the Brewers are going to spit this one up. I just hope it is the Astros who catch them and not the Phillies. Last Friday really hurt with our loss and the Brewer win. What sucks the most is that the freakin Padres had numerous chances to win that game!
Can't believe the Astros are playing meaningful games in September. I've counted them dead, then alive, then dead, then alive again this season. I'm not usually one to do that, but man did they prove me wrong to even make it this close. That said, they've got a long way to go, but I won't put anything past this team. The Brew Crew has a tough upcoming stretch of games. It could get REAL interesting.
how is this happening?! haha...its like no matter who we trot out there at any position people just keep producing its crazy. Sadly ill admit that i wrote off the astros awhile back and stopped keeping up with baseball but was curious what the national media (espn) has been saying about us? (im gonna guess probably nothing since ESPN seems to have an underlying disinterest/hatred towards houston)
I didn't get to watch the game last night. I've never even heard of Arias as a pitcher in the minors. How did he look last night? Does he have potential?
Any news on Carlos Lee? I know it was 6-8 weeks and we're in week #4 right now. 6 weeks puts him back in the last full week of the season. If they continue on as they have been, should he not be planning on getting back?
First 3 innings he looked great. 4th and 5th he noticeably tired, more with location than anything else. they never really hit him hard, but he was starting to lose command. He relieved most of the year and only recently started a game or two at Round Rock. I do not believe he went more than 5 innings in any start.
The Astros just sent me an email to purchase playoff tickets. CRAP!!! I'm getting my hopes up again. I'm even kinda optimistic about next year if they can get some pitching.
They showed it up here on FSN and glad I was able to see it... Hawkins came thru and so did Valverde...It's great to win... How bout' them Reds...woohoo...
