I very strongly disagree with this assertion. You speak like you know the future, but you don’t. You speculate like the rest of us.

What would franchising him cost? And what are the future ramifications?

Unless you’re Mahomes, what he said is true.
The track record for success after the QB is paid is not good.
You’re assuming CJ is Mahomes level, he’s assuming the past is a predictor of the future.
One seems more crazy than the other

Meh, that’s fair enough. But what I’m assuming is no crazier than the thought that CJ would come in and immediately transform our franchise into a borderline contender while having arguably the best rookie season ever for a QB.

We’ll see how it plays out.

    I know the past,

Once a QB starts eating up the cap the window starts closing.

I think we def sign former AZ Cardinal / NY Giant LB Isaiah Simmons now. Not sure if Cashman will be coming back. We'll see.

Cashman is way better than Simmons.
    Would be a downgrade

Check the #s ... Cashman is a physical freak, but Simmons is more so

I compared them before I posted above
    https://stathead.com/football/versu...ource=pfr&utm_medium=sr_xsite&utm_id=CashBl00

Simmons has better #s with one less year in the NFL

Cashman had a good year in Meco's scheme tho. I just think Simmons may be willing to play LB in Htown for less $$$.

Just a thought... me personally, I wanted to acquire Simmons when AZ put him on the trade block + wanted him coming out of Clemson

I know the numbers. Simmons has been a bust compared to his draft position. He has never had a season like Cashman has had last season except maybe his second season. By counting stats or advanced numbers.
Like I said it would be a downgrade

I loved Isaiah Simmons coming out of Clemson. Never understood why he couldn't put it together. Maybe ARZ just sucked? I know there was always an issue whether he was a LB or Safety. I would love for him to come play in Demeco system. He has a ton of speed and I think the Hybrid LB/S position would fit him perfectly here.

I know nothing about him, but I'm fully on the "If Demeco likes him, I like him" bandwagon

That's why I posted. I think it was you or another poster antsy for some free agents from the Cardinals. =)

Feels like a B+ average.... IIRC we were an A- before

Like Rudolph... we went down (in history).

    I'll see myself out....
