Assuming you are willing to listen to Jon Daniels, he said it was about the fact that ticket holders for the games in September were now to be used in the series this week and how unfair it was to those people who planned around the September home game dates.

I think this is much ado about nothing. Let's not blow it out of proportion. Basically, it doesn't make sense tickets-wise to do this on short notice. Surely the Astros can see that? I mean...if you want to just put it on the fans who had tickets to the games in September to deal with it then, sure, do it. I would guess that would add up to a lot of no-shows and no recourse to make those previously sold seats available for sale. I suppose Jon and company didn't want to just refund the September home game ticket holders their money. And just open up the box office as though no tickets had been sold. But, that doesn't make a lot of sense.

Those making that argument are saying it would have been "good for Texas to keep the games here".

If that's the case, the fan inconvenience and competitive imbalance (longer road trip to end the season) a switch would pose for the Rangers fans should be purely argued as it would have been "good for Texas to ensure Houston gets home games eventually too".

Rangers wouldn't know this year on how inconvenient it is to get playoff tickets on short notice.

They should literally be required to drop "Texas" off their brand and off their jerseys. True Texans step up and help one another in a time of crisis, no matter how big or small that help is.

Daniels not only refused to give us shelter from the rain, but also kicked our boat 1000 miles downstream. What a d!ck.

I am sure they can. Nobody I know of is disputing the business logic of their decision. The part that is grating people is that people in need, teams in need, a city in need is a circumstance that requires thinking outside of business logic. Disasters of every kind have innocent victims in need. And those that offer their help dont do so with strings attached. And dont do so predicated on it not costing them something. They do it because they want to and its the right thing to do it and they can afford it.

So what its really about to me is unwillingness to help your own. In this case, your own is Major League Baseball. Baseball would have us believe that they are more than a collection of parts, but a family of sorts. One in which they look out for one another if for no other reason than because of their shared mutual interest, baseball itself. Events like this paint a different picture though. One where self interest predominates. Where giving anything isn't on the table unless it translates to something good for you.

True giving doesn't require it being asked for.

So, the Rangers didn't give. When asked, wouldn't capitulate. Did they have reasons not to? Sure.

That's exactly what Bob Nightengale wrote on USA Today. It's a pretty crappy line of thought, but it's not really anyone else's problem if you choose not to understand.

Mayor is calling for the Astros to play here this weekend.

I have a strong feeling they will. Thing have improved quite a bit just in the last 24 hours. Given two more days we will see even more improvement. Obviously still a lot of messed up stuff but the Astros could put a game on. People just need to be reasonable in trying to get there.

Who said anything about the players? I'm talking about the owner who was presented a clear and simple solution (that was fair to all parties), yet chose to make it more difficult by demanding 3 extra home games. Reading comprehension is key.

It's at least worth noting that the Rangers collective donated a million dollars to the relief effort. I don't know if that factors into what your saying or how your opinion changes given that. I would like to read your thoughts on that, though. Can you separate that from what you are talking about?

If they can, they should. The players and staff haven't been home since this started. I'll certainly try to attend.

If you think this whole discussion is about the players, I sincerely hope you remember to keep breathing.

What the hell does this have anything to do with the players?? This is about the fact that camaraderie is apparently a four letter word to those scum suckers up north.

It didnt factor in at all. I was reflecting on that one event.

Not sure I can expound without knowing their (The Rangers) mind on it. In the context of the former subject, the reason why is all important.

    1) A purely political/PR move to score points
    2) Guilt
    3) Genuine gesture

Sure, the money is welcome, regardless of reason. But not sure it moves the "Baseball Brotherhood" needle much.

Kinda brings up the image of going up to a man and slapping him in the face, then turning around and giving his sister money afterwards.
