I don't think I would mind if Clutch just made this an Astros and MLB forum...would get more convo going that that pathetic MLB thread but wouldn't be too much that it would junk up the forum with non-Astro stuff.

I would love that and I think it was mentioned to Clutch, but he didn't want to go that route.

I think Clutch needs to make it happen! We have a Houston Rockets and a Houston Texans forum! Why not a Houston Astros MLB thread, who are currently number 1 in The AL! This is Houston sports!

Huh? There is a Houston Astros forum.

The lack of other baseball discussion goes beyond simple forum logistics. Research has shown that the fandom of MLB teams tends to be very specific only to the region of interest. Fans of teams will usually follow their team religiously, along with some key divisional opponents... but not much else on a daily basis.

The NBA benefits from being truly a superstar-driven league, where fans will flock to whichever team has the best players/stars at any given moment.

The NFL benefits from the decreased amount of games, along with fantasy football/gambling making EVERY game potentially interesting.

MLB does become more national in the post-season... with those game amping up the drama and becoming a vastly different type of pace/game from the regular season.
