They're 6.5 out. That's a real shot. Plenty of ball left, Negative Nancy.

not with 20 some games left. if the brewers play .500 ball down the stretch, the astros would have to go something like 17-4 just to tie. it's not impossible, but it's not a 'real shot'.

i hope they do it, but come on. too little too late.

6.5 out with 3 teams to leapfrog with 22 games left. Tough task.

    SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP!!

19-3 gives them 93 wins should be enough for the wild card. Look for the Cubs to pull a "Mets". Brewers for the Division and Stros for the wild card.
    ....... o well doesn't hurt to dream though. :p

Astros would have to pull a Rockies to make the playoffs at this point. As someone mentioned, not out of the realm of possibility, but HIGHLY unlikely. Just sit back and enjoy the good baseball while it is still on. Because God knows, as soon as the playoffs roll around, the only baseball you'll be hearing about is probably Cubs/Red Sox (since I anticipate the Yankees not making the playoffs...probably still hear plenty about them too, despite that).

yeah come on, i'm as big a r****d homer as they get sometimes, but in this case.. I just don't see it. Someone else mentioned the exact #'s.. and not only are we 6.5 out with 20 to go...but we also have other teams in front of us waiting to pounce if the Brewers have some choke job down the stretch.

So yeah, I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy what the team--esp. the pitching, Wiggy, Berkman all year, and the late-season pickups--does to make it a fun month

Since they are only 1 and 2 games behind two of the teams, if they can make up 6.5 on the Brewers, it can be assumed they have played well enough to make up the 1 and 2 games on the Cardinals and Phillies.

I'll go out on a limb and say if they catch the Brewers they will win the wild card.

The Stros schedule looks pretty nice as well. 6 with the cubs/marlins & 16 against bottom feeders (Col/Cin/Pit/Atl).

Brewers play 4 at Philly & 3 at home/3 on road with the cubs.

Cubs have a tough road to hoe. After the next 3 at Cincy, Cubbies only have 6 games left at home (3 with Mil, 3 Stl) & play 13 on the road against Hou/Mil/Stl/NYM.

Whatever happens, it'll be fun to watch.

Oddly enough, I wish there were more games against the tough opponents. At least here of late, it seems like the Astros step it up when playing the better teams.

    3-1!

Brewers had the bases loaded with 1 out in the 4th but couldn't score

Padres will get to that flimsy Brewers bullpen early tonight, too. Looks good so far.
