nice win. lets hope they can keep this going. Lidge looked a little bit rusty. If pettite can get on a roll this could be a fun second half.

Exactly . Now I can wear my Burke jersey and not have people say "who?" .

The kid is playing great ball right now . He seems to be one of the guys that is gonna pan out as expected and maybe even more .

Voting only determines first place, and given that 1st place is injured, the voting really has no effect - Garner can pick anyone he wants. And given that Lance is 2nd in the majors in RBIs (behind Pujols), I think he's pretty much a lock unless he goes into a massive slump.

i don't know about anyone else but i don't seem to get a knot in my stomach now when Lidge comes out. sure, he didn't have a very smooth outing last night but that first hit was a fluke and one of the other hits was a seeing-eye single.

i also like putting Lane right in front of Berkman. it means more fastballs for Lane and walking doesn't mean an automatic out on the next batter.

and Chris f'n Burke is making the most of his playign time.

as for Preston Wilson, i'm glad his avg is climbing but i want to see some balls go over the wall.

God bless the ability of the manager to veto the Mets' fans voting.

Berkman will typically drop a spot in the order with a lefty on the hill. I was suprised to see Lane there, but with out Ensberg, it was the best option last night. It worked out quite well, too. He is actually well suited for that spot. Hopefully, Lane is out of his slump. Burke is just playing out of his mind. He has to be on the field every day right now.

I haven't seen the outfield voting, where is smeltron in the voting. If not in the top 3, Garner may need to omit him.

Hurt his shoulder diving for a foul ball last weekend. He should be back tonight.

yeah, Burkes just know how to get it done.

But he's going to have to get cut on pretty soon for that shoulder. I think he had the same thing I had. My shoulder did not hurt at all when it was in place, but when it came out, hurt like hell

He dominated in the minors but sometimes that does not translate well to the pros.

    Lane for example....

I know Lane has been doing ok the last week or so, but if he starts to struggle again, I would seriously look at Luke Scott who just bashed his 17th home run last night.

Last year, Lane was bad early and good late. That might be his MO in MLB.
