There was one of those lapses. Roy battles back after giving up 2 hits to start the inning. He's got a 3 and 2 count with two outs and leaves the pitch right in the middle of the zone. When Roy is on, he locates that pitch where he intended and probably gives up nothing in that inning.
I'd love to see what our bullpen's ERA is when we're tied/ahead vs. behind. Our pen has consistently been unclutch this year. It's mindblowing how many games have been there for the taking and our bullpen just throws it away......like kerosene on the fire. O for the days of Dotel, Lidge and Wagner
A lot of people are probably assuming the Reds will come down to Earth and they very well may do just that. At the same time, they do have some pretty capable starting pitching. Nice young talent in Cueto and Volquez then guys like Harang and Arroyo have the potential to be solid as well. Cordero is a solid closer. If things come together for their starters and they all pitch to their potential, the Reds may be still hanging around late in the season.
In his last 10 games, Bourn is hitting 8-for-42 with 15 Ks and 4 BBs. He's been leading off for about half of those games.
We are better than this guys. Keep the faith. I'm pretty sure we'll win tonight then sweep the Pirates setting us up for a nice June to get back involved in the race.
Relax, this is the part of the season where they suck, get about 25 games under .500, before turning it on in the second half and ending up a couple games out of the wild card spot. All part of the master plan.
