Randy Livingston......had the skills and athleticism to be a star. Chris Gatling....good player.....traded probably a dozen times and played for garbage teams. Almost everybody playing in the Jordan-Hakeem era that did not have the opportunity to play with either of them. COME ON NOW! THE REAL ANSWER IS NOBODY. ANYBODY THAT PLAYS IN THE NBA IS FORTUNATE, NOT UNLUCKY!
there are some guys you hate to see this happen to just because you want to see how great they could have been. he's one of them. career over before it started
The only thing unlucky about Eddie Griffin was the train schedule. OK, and you could count a genetic predisposition to alcoholism. He didn't choose that either. But still... makes me mad. What a waste.
Can't believe no one has mentioned Ralph Sampson or Bill Walton. Ralph especially...he could've gone down as an all-time great.
I was going to say Penny as well. I thought he could've bee the next Magic Johnson, perhaps even greater than him.
Obviously he wasn't though. BTW- My Karl Malone answer was a firmly planted tongue in cheek joke. I feel like any of these names that made it to the finals, at least, having a won a conference was not unlucky. And I don't believe in Karma... although I do believe in the laws of sowing and reaping, and the law of averages. Another name I'll add to the mix... Mitchell Wiggins.
Andre Kirilenko. It's not his fault he plays for an evil coach on an evil team in the worst place in America. And to boot his coach hates him and won't let him play a style that maximizes his potential. He should be a top 20 NBA player but instead is just a flash in the pan.
Charles Barkley. Got to Philly one year after they won a title. Got to Houston two years after they won two titles. Prevented from at least forcing a game 7 on two occasions because of last second threes.
Very nice call -- was about to post him. Was really improving by huge amounts until the snow got him. Here's a very serious one: Doug Christie. Just look at his expression, and hers for that matter.
