no, he doesn't qualify he never signed an nba contract; thus, not an nba player.

I have little sympathy for Jay Williams. Hurley was a shame. But that stuff is off court...I mean, come one...Bobby Phils, Drazen Petrovic.

For on the court, had Rudy T not ran straight into Kermit's fist...that was just unlucky. Anyone got the youtube of the SNL skit on that? haha

It depends on what the criteria is. If you're looking for somebody that was hampered or impaired along the Len Bias/Jay Williams line it's one thing.

If you're talking players that simply have had bad luck then you have to consider guys like T-Mac, Malone/Stockton, Barkley, Webber, Gary Payton to some degree and others for some more recent examples.

No doubt. Everything from Big Shot Bob's infamous three pointer that pretty much all but denied him a championship ring to all the injuries he seemed to rack up at the worst times.

Fair enough. I'll stay to on-court injuries. I'd say Shaun Livingston because he had a promising future, and I don't think he'll every come back from that injury. I still wish I had never seen it. I'd put Grant Hill on that list as well because he was amazing before his ankle broke down. He was on a Hall of Fame path, but at least he's still been able to play some and he seems rejuvinated in Phoenix.

If you stay away from injuries, I'd say Stockton and Malone. They were the best at their positions for a long, long time, but they always drew the best freaking competition and could never win it all. Michael's 2 years away, they ran into the Rockets. The 2 years they got to the Finals, they ran into Bulls. Not that have much sympathy.

    Eddie Griffin.

    Fired.
    Unemployed.
    Drunk.
    Jailed.
    Crashed.
    Burned.
    Dead.

So do you think Jay Williams is the unluckiest?

    Rest in peace Eddie.

No way it's Karl Malone. It should be John Stockton. Stockton made Malone a star and Malone choked away Stockton's sure shot for the ring.

"Crash and Burn." Man, I never thought of it like that.

Add "Caught Masterbating in public" to the list, too.

I immediately disqualified Jason Collier, Bobby Phils, and Eddie Griffin out of respect for the dead.

    RIP to all of them.

Karl Malone and Shawn Kemp? Are you kidding me? There will be remembered as two of the best PFs in history.

Unluckiest? It's definitely Drazen Petrovic. That guy was the very 1st Euro coming to the NBA and averaged like 20 PPG in his 4th year before he died in a car accident.
