Did you use QuickPwn with the bootleggers? When I first got my phone it was on version 1 and remember using QuickPwn to get to 2.1. It was about a year ago and was pretty painless. If it's the same process I may go ahead and try to get 3.0. If not, what method did you use?
I tried about 3 or 4 times during the day either asking for the cancellation dept or just customer service and they all would say it is old, doesn't work, I don't know how your friend got it to work, etc and kept pushing the 9.99 option. Then I called around 4:30 and a the chick made it happen. I think it just depends which person/call center you end up with because the earlier ones were definitely putting in notes on my acct. So Hopefully this will work - it shows up as TMobile Web online in our acct properties currently. I also switched out phones to motorola razors instead of the sony/ericcson. I read somewhere to do that Next step is to get a old iphone and unlock/jailbreak it. Any advice on this? I assume check craigslist or ebay thanks
Yeah, I've had it for a while now, but I added it recently for someone else and it took about 4-5 calls. If it shows up as T-Mobile web online when you log in to your account, you definitely got it. Definitely check Craigslist. I got a 2g iPhone in damn good condition for $200 a couple weeks ago. You have to adjust your network settings on the iphone for it to work with t-zones so just google for that. It's very straightforward.
I used a program called redsn0w. It's the same with the bootloaders and the iPhone firmware like Quickpwn. I'm not sure if Quickpwn supports 3.0, so you might want to look into that.
We've had t-mobile for a long time now and I don't want to switch to AT&T but I want an iphone. I'm going to try to get the unlimited t-zones and then get an unlocked 2G iphone. My question is for those that have an unlocked iphone with unlimited t-zones. Is the speed ridiculously slow like dial-up? Also, is there a better unlimited data plan with t-mobile that works better with an unlocked iphone but costs more? Bear in mind that I have never used any phone device for internet so I don't really have any reference for how fast a phone should be, so I'm not concerned about having the fastest service out there. I just don't want to switch to AT&T and I don't want my bill to double. Thanks
If you like carrying a charger everywhere buy a G1 just wait....the Nokia N900 is coming to T-mobile.http://maemo.nokia.com/n900/
I think that it's just because I have so many friends with an iphone that I've seen what it does and how it is to use. I've never seen a G1 so I don't know anything other than what I've read. I know that I'm really ignorant when it comes to phones and I don't need much but I know that I can get a used 2G iphone for pretty cheap.
T-mobile EDGE speed for the iphone is ok. you can't stream videos etc. its more like dialup. but if you are around wifi then you have no problems. I would do it, but try and get the tzones first, they don't really offer it anymore
Yeah, that is true. I have a charger in my car and charge while at work through my usb...also charge every night. minor inconvenience though. Iphone is smoother than G1. G1 does have multitasking and will be getting Flash next year. Both are pretty good phones. If you're not going to root the G1, may as well get the iphone.
Holy crap that is NICE! Any word on App develpoment for that phone? I've gotten pretty used to Android, but this looks like a G1/Android contender!
If people plan on getting a new phone and plan from t-mobile wait a little while because there is a little something brewing. new line of smart phones, price drops and a secret.
has anyone heard anything about a t-mobile - sprint merger? saw something a few weeks ago but nothing since
