top 10!....who gives a *****, these ranking games get old after your freshman year, it is all just too arbitrary and too many factors to truly decide between numbers. Even being in a top 10 school in this list which I have a good experience with, I know of some really unique small schools that take a different type of approach to really challenge you and make you think, when I see them not considered and knowing the merit and the challenge that they give their students, I realize the lack of credibility and flaws in thought process in any of these lists.
Texas should get points for some miraculous insight in structuring the Permanent Fund, twin blessings of Rice and U of H, and for just the sheer number of schools. If they had integrated or at least made it co-ed it from the start I bet we'd probably have half the entertainment and tech industry, and a fourth auto company down here.
Anyone who thinks that subjective university rankings mean anything . . . Well, I pity the fools who failed to learn how to think at their respective highly ranked schools.
The Harvard of Canada. Just kidding, I believe McGill is a much better university overall, they should be in UofT's place. 1. McGill 2. UofT 3. UBC ......this is how I see the rankings in Canada.
All they are known for is math. Ugly girls, poor funding, and socially awkward students...... a university nightmare.
Silicon Valley is filled with Waterloo grads. Companies really like hiring from there. I know this girl from there she is alright looking for being in engineering. I heard this one dude from McGill referring to it as the harvard of canada.
Waterloo will never be mentioned in the high rankings as UofT, McGill, and UBC etc.. The reason is Waterloo are like a school specializes and reputable in only Math, engineering and computer sciences and basically mediocre in everything else. Not taking anything away from the university because those programs are superb, but you have to be well rounded to be considered a top university. Waterloo is kind of like Western Ontario, top notch business and management school and nothing else.
Nice to know I'm paying for my son to go to a university ranked higher than Rice and UT. I'm surprised at Rice's ranking, which makes me suspect the rankings just a bit.
Rice's place in other rankings had a lot to do with their admission statistics. This ranking doesn't even take this into account. This ranking puts more of an emphasis on research and teaching where Rice is below the other top tier schools. As a parent, I care more about what the school provides my child than how exclusive it is. Big public schools shouldn't be penalized in the rankings for letting a lot of kids in which is why I personally like this ranking much more.
