Lets just blame all that on Charlie Thomas and forget about it

no, i've never heard of Steve Patterson. really, he was GM of the Rockets?

your point wasn't just that STeve Patterson created the Texans, but i like how you subtlely put Univ. of Texas as if you were trying to take a shot at the Texans organization w/o taking a shot at the organization.

he graduated from UT Austin and he was the GM for the Rockets and he was the person who brought the Texans/Reliant to town.
The point is that Vernon Maxwell and company did this. And all loyalty should be to the Houston Rockets of 1993.

At the time, there were more than a fair share of people questioning Hakeem... hell, if there was a bbs back then, I'm pretty sure you'd see a ton of Hakeem bashing. The guy was a great all-star player... but hadn't reach the "dominant" level that he did in 93.

If that even in any way spurred Hakeem to embrace his muslim faith, and in the process, elevate his game to MVP standards... Steve Patterson could be the most important historical figure in rockets history!

In all seriousness, Steve Patterson did play a huge role in building the championship teams (drafting Horry, Cassell, and signing Elie)... and once he left, Rudy + CD made their fair share of questionable decisions (but the Drexler trade wasn't one of them).
