Didn't think this needed another thread, but United at it again. http://www.denverpost.com/2017/06/23/united-airlines-infant-overheats-dia/
I don't understand why airlines don't turn on the AC. They will probably have to start the engines and burn some fuel, but gas prices are low.
Where is this? IAH? Also, love the "United" Mercedes Benz SUV on the background. Is that car even necessary at the airport?
United is such a terrible airline. Its almost as if they are trying their hardest to be the worst airline out there.
It is apparent from the video that Carmelo is in the Benz and he is waiting for his luggage before he goes to sign with Morey.
I've always wondered this as well. Especially the times when they have us sitting there, seemingly unnecessarily.
Do you have to have the engine running to have AC, like in cars? If so it cost too much to have plane engine running for hours on the runway.
Just pointing out the reason, not saying it is right. Usually when the plane get on the run way, they are expecting to take off soon, but if conditions develop that does not allow the plane to take off, they should pull the plane back to terminal, not sure why air lines does not do this very often.
I'm sure it is because of money due to regulations or kicking people off the plane etc. The real question is when you are on the plane sweating balls can you get off without being arrested or banned. The longest I have ever sat is an hour and it was horrible but have heard stories of several hours and want to know at what point can I say "OK I'm out" and find another transport.
After 2 hours, they are required to provide food, water and restrooms. After 3 hours, they are required to let passengers deplane. Exceptions do apply.
Unfortunately aircraft does not reach peak a/c efficiency until it has wind funneling through its intake at 500mph.
Those are United requirements. The rest of the industry would actually take care of their passengers long before that.
I've been on one of those planes that just sits there, not moving. But in my case, we were waiting just to taxi up to the terminal. Kid you not. We were waiting for hours just to park the bleepity-bleep plane. The airline? United, of course. The airport? Well, Denver (I've traveled through Denver twice now and there's been a problem each time). Naturally we missed our connecting flight and had to wait seven hours for our next chance to fly out. Add on top of that the extreme rudeness of all United personnel. All. Granted, at the time they were experiencing layoffs, or expecting layoffs, but even then, I was very disappointed when they bought Continental. Continental wasn't cheap but I never had issues with them.
