I have no idea what supplies and insulin runs these days for somebody with well managed diabetes. When you say 5 times that, do you mean that your supplies, etc run $50,000 a year?

Supplies, doctor visits, tests, and screenings. I wasn't just saying supplies and medicine. I was including doctor visits. However supplies for an insulin pump, and the pump itself are very expensive as are test strips.

I pay about $2500 per year, and that's on the low end. What insurance do you have that you pay much less than that? The average cost of health insurance for an individual between $4000 to $5000/year depending on the source.

While I was self employed, I had an agent visit my office. He was offering an Aetna plan for $140 a month per person for a man in his mid 30s that is a smoker. It was a plan that covered me in the event that something catastrophic happened like a car wreck or need for surergy, etc.

My health insurance now costs me almost nothing (less than $30 a paycheck), but it is through my employer.

You seriously believe that? Wow. I must have missed it, you know, while I was busy being a hippie in the 1960's. Far out, man.

I have to admit that it is gratifying that I was able to get you to provide some semblance of evidence for your wild-eyed claims. The best part, however, is that I am able to nail your lies down with your own evidence.

    Here was your first lie...

Your first link tells the story of how Democrats had a strategy session to overcome the bad behavior in the town hall meetings. Chief of Staff Messina was reported to have said “If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard,” so your attribution to Obama was false. In addition, it is very obvious that they were speaking figuratively, as politicians are famous for, and were not inciting any type of violence.

    LIE ONE DEBUNKED!

    On to your next lie...

In the video you linked, there was no reference to "brownshirts," but she did refer to the protestors that were carrying swastikas. Of course, that was in reference to the protestor that was carrying a swastika.

Here is a link to the article where that image appeared...

    ANOTHER LIE DEBUNKED!!!

    Ready for your third spanking?

I encourage everyone here to go and read the link you provided to verify that at no time did Krugman even mention "racially-motivated opposition." In fact, the two paragraphs below are the only place in the article where race is mentioned at all...

Does this sound familiar? It should: it’s a strategy that has played a central role in American politics ever since Richard Nixon realized that he could advance Republican fortunes by appealing to the racial fears of working-class whites.

Many people hoped that last year’s election would mark the end of the “angry white voter” era in America. Indeed, voters who can be swayed by appeals to cultural and racial fear are a declining share of the electorate.

    LIE THREE DEBUNKED!!!!!

And so we see why you will continue to run away from an evidence based debate with me. Even when you provide "evidence," you don't have the reading comprehension to understand that your evidence doesn't mean what you think it means. As such, a structured debate with me would end with you whining "inconceivable" and then (figuratively) dying from the poison to which I am immune.

Yes, yet again you have been pwned. This time, since you tried to bring evidence, you have also been hoisted by your own petard.

Camus wrote a thought-provoking essay called The Myth of Sisyphus, and this thread actually serves as a bolstering argument for the ideas put forth there.

    ^^^

Streetcar, lunch, streetcar, sleep, streetcar: gotcha
pushing the boulder till it rolls away, pushing it some more: gotcha

But didn't Sisyphus know the effort was futile? That we must consider Sisyphus happy, for realizing the absurdity of his actions? I don't get that from this thread.

I think, yes, Sisyphus to Camus obtained a self-realization and became "the absurd man." One sees no direct evidence here -- I must agree.

But I think Andy enjoys the task, even as he must recognize it is semi-infinite. And while Camus's absurd man comes to enjoy the slight variations in the city and the sunlight day to day, I sense that Andy enjoys the slight variations (though the variations in this case and even more difficult to detect.)

Only Andy knows if he has truly attained status as the absurd man.

TJ has been humiliated. I know that you know it won't change his posting style, but it's fun to see to it happen, and see what kind of creative attempt at saving face he will throw out.

That is hilarious. It makes you wonder what their real beef with the idea is. Is it that they just don't like change?

Yes, I realize that "debating" with sacker_jorge is a fairly Sisyphusian endeavor, but the problem with media outlets like Fox News is that there isn't anyone to present a real-world viewpoint. If The_Sacker is allowed to spout his nonsense without challenge, it is a lot easier for people to just buy the bull.

I know that I am not winning anything with this "debate" any more than I would be winning if I had a puppy who wouldn't stop jumping on me. However, I wouldn't be doing the right thing if I ignored the jumping, so I will continue to smack him on the nose when he jumps, varying the force I use based on how egregious the jump is.

I really wish I could find someone with his views who could defend them logically and reasonably. I suppose I will have to be satisfied in the knowledge that there are thinking conservatives out there, now I just hope they are able to take the GOP back from the idiots. I would really prefer to be a Republican, but they lost me around 1989.

A firm "NO!" or "DOWN!" coupled with an appropriate hand movement and followed by a "Sit" or "Lay down" works much better on puppies than a slap on the nose. I can't speak for wingnuts.

I agree if we are talking about puppies. Generally, the slap on the nose only needs to happen once or twice when accompanied by the "NO" or "DOWN." After that, they associate the verbal warning with the sting of the smack. I only had to clip our current dog twice before she got it.

Based on currently available evidence, I will have to keep smacking The Sacker down until 2020 or so.

You know, the thing about this video is that I don't think anyone is trying to stop anyone from protesting or picketing for their own beliefs... but when they go into these town hall meetings where others actually want to ask questions and have a discussion, and perhaps learn something... the yelling and chanting is just preventing others from taking advantage of their own first amendment rights. I just have no respect for people who resort to 8 year old's tactics to get their way.
