Ya think I might have exaggerating just a bit? Maybe?

A control board operator's job should be boring. That means the unit is running as it should be. And 98% of the time, it is. It's that 2% you have to be ready for, when the unit is upset. You better be able to handle that 2%, cuz it could mean the difference between life and death for yourself or any number of your co-workers.

Boring? Yes. But I'll taking boring over explosions any day of the week.

Most people exaggerate for effect. If you read Behad's post in the context of the thread he was posting in, it was clear he was exaggerating to top Ima's post... he even calls himself Homer Simpson later.

I highly doubt Behad did nothing but surf and post. I suspect most of us have boring days and days where we get lots of work done and many, many days in the middle. If you read Behad's reports during the hurricane, you'd realize he's anything but lazy.

At any rate, the important thing to take away from this discussion is the following statement:

    Hear, hear!

Behad's job seems to be similar to that of a lifeguard. Lifeguards sit around doing nothing, watching to make sure nothing goes wrong and then springing into action when there is a problem. That's just the nature of the job.

Do you think lifeguards are lazy too?

During fire season, I only have to be concerned with the 1% of fires that escape initial attack... that means a lot of waiting and lots of watching the weather and lot of listening to the radio (job radio, not AM/FM).

Because no more Unions means no more US labor laws that call for overtime and a soon to be minimum wage of $7.25/hr?

all these "laws" are subject to repeal, so I would say that some of those laws are at risk with no union

USing bigtexxx's logic head lifeguards are lazy, and the average lifeguard is even lazier than the head lifeguards.

Thanks for having my back, guys, but its really not necessary. Let liltex continue his assault...I haven't been this entertained by a D&D thread since trader-idiot's "Folks - this is real" thread.

    A few points
fadeaway - lifeguards cannot be lazy because they are not unionized
FranchiseBlade - I registered the btLLC with the trademark office, so you owe me for using it. Ah, what the hell, I'll let it be a freeware. Everyone should have the same amusement I get from liltex's logic leaps.

Yes you definitely had the trademark in before I used it. I'll acknowledge it, and pay the royalty.

DD is on the Ownership side. . . .so he just likes the slugs under him to work . . .while he chills
    j/k

Unions were set up to protect the Employees from employers
Once they are gone. . . companies have a way of eroding laws over time
Look at how the weasel around environmental issues
    so . .
when they start weaseling around employment laws
who will be there to stop them or point them out

    a bunch of individuals
do not have the power, ability as a collective of individuals

While this is true, how can you call that person out if you have a higher post per day avg than them? That's like Oprah telling Rosie to go on a diet....

I also see that lil Texxy conveniently ignored that part of his response. ;)

Edit: And lil Texxy saying Behad has sympathizers isn't going to cut it either. We see through that too. Since you are avoiding him, I'll directly ask on his behalf. How do you have more posts (daily avg) than the dude who is so lazy and has/had a job doing nothing...which allowed him to surf the net all day?

Can't you see it? "Evil capitalist" bigtexx has poor workers he exploits doing all the posting for him... - maybe they should form a union or something.
