when you hit a grand slam in extra innings like our GM did, even Fran will start writing good things about our glorious red.
Are you serious? I said that even though his turnover rates is better this year which means that he's making smarter plays, and taking care of the ball better but again, a lot of his weaknesses hasn't improve much. His ball handling is still shaky even though its just a tad bit better, he is still shaky at going left and his jumpers is still extremely streaky. I'm not going to criticized him all day and I don't hate Lin because I really want him to be a great player but he still has a lot of weaknesses in his game and most of that weaknesses are the same as last season. He's not gong to be able to improve all his weaknesses over the summer and it will take time.
Lin has been up and down but I think there has been alot of improvement in his play even in the last couple weeks. Alot of his issues have to do with being aggressive and building chemistry with Harden. I agree his shot needs work but we are coming off wins against NY and BOS and in both games Lin looked decent. He is starting to fill his role. He had 7 assists in the first half of the BOS game. The SA game when he dropped 38 seemed to ignite him a little. I expect he will look vastly different in April. Just has to attack and stay healthy. He needs to learn not to fall down so much. Ive seen him take some hard falls. Also, he's averaging 6 assists. The ppg will improve and hopefully he can learn to protect the ball a little better. We are only 20 games in.
Wasn't Jeremy Lin recovering from knee surgery over the summer and therefore literally couldn't put in the offseason work on his jumper even if he wanted to?
Congratulations in making a post about an article complimenting Chandler Parsons into yet another one debating Jeremy Lin. sigh
Once again though. Parsons is playing at a really high level right now. Looking into his numbers from last year to this year the growth is amazing. Just watching games you can see the improvement. Don't even get me started on how much better Asik is than last year, if anyone is deserving of MIP on the roster it is definitely him. But it is just false to say that Lin hasn't improved. And this whole he went on a Asia tour & wasn't working on his game handle is dumb. Just a few thoughts.
You're right. He's still improving and I'm not doubting his talent and a lot of his issues are mainly because of being too passive or not enough confidence. I'm not hating on Lin or anything. I know some people here that said Lin was rehabbing his knee over the off-season so he couldn't work on his game but actually, his doctor cleared him to get back onto the court like a week after the Knicks were eliminated from the playoffs. Lin also wanted to practice with the USA Men basketball team but couldn't because of his contract situation so overall, Lin was healthy enough to play basketball over the summer.
I deserve blame as well. Should have just not commented. My apologies. Back to Parsons. This was a really fun piece, the best part of the article was this sentence particularly the bold, “Then I noticed that in our 2-on-2, drills, 3-on-3, 4-on-4, 5-on-5, Chandler’s team always won. There’s a value to that. That’s a big deal to me. After all, winning is what we’re supposed to be all about.” This was also really good as well. "I don’t know if enough people in the NBA value intangibles when it comes time to draft or acquire players.” So very true. The draft process is imperfect in so many ways.
I could see him getting to around a Deng level if he keeps improving. Plus , he just so god damn handsome. Its an additional weapon on offense. Hypnotizes defenders with his good looks, drives past for a layup as they try to cover up their boners. I would finding hard to concentrate as well.
Like most Rocket fans I have not been able to watch Parsons much this year. Just a bit on the internet (thanks Les/Comcast). After watching the game on ESPN and some of the Knicks game on NBA TV i was like who is this Parsons guy. I couldn't believe how much better he looked than early last year. Unbelievable for the 38th pick. He is an example of the type of luck every championship contender usually needs.
Parsons and Asik both improved tremendously over the summer as well as Patrick Patterson. They are stepping up and playing well with a bigger role. I'm not denying Lin is a good young player but I feel like a lot of his weaknesses are still there. You can sugar coated all you want but he is still shaky in many aspects of his game. But his weaknesses are not big major problems and can be fixed over time with experience and hard work. But anyway, I'm done with this debate whether you agree with me or not. You have a different point of view and I respect your opinions. But none of us really know what exactly Lin did over the off season. I could be wrong because he could be working harder than anyone else in the league. But either way, he was not prepared for when teams scouting him hard and finding ways to shut him down...
I remember how I used to cringe last year every time he attempted a FT and missed. Amazing how much he's grown since then despite still being inconsistent. Probably one of the best contracts in the league right now.
nah, i think Royce got the best contract in the league... get paid and still able to stay home tweeting all day. cant beat that
I love to see how Parsons is continuously improving and just bringing it every night, no matter where it is in the boxscores, assists, rebounds, points, whatever. I'm so glad he's getting some recognition, especially how it seems from all interviews he's just such a good teammate, that he's even the glue-guy off-court. I figure in year three we might see Parsons integrate his offense and his defense, so I'm not too stressed about his defense atm and figure that it's probably a function of this team being so freaking young.
Deng is right... he is a Luol Deng type player. Jack of all trades, master of none, but more than adequate at just about everything.
