Heh...I'm curious...and I ask seriously....what country with different ethnicities and religions does not have some serious issues? The UK? France? Central Europe? Africa? Middle East?

Please help me understand which countries have been able to accomodate many different peoples .. w/o issues? And are there any others that even have as large and as many ethnicities and religions as the US?

I know some of you might say I'm nothing more than a whiner but I seriously want to leave this country if nothing more than to feel safe in knowing that nobody wants to destroy the country I live in, or despise the country where I'm from. In case you haven't noticed, Americans are absolutely despised in the world today. In fact, when I'm traveling in a foreign country I see many American's put on some Canadian pins or flags to pretend that their not Americans in order to avoid being called names or despised by the local population. How can I feel proud to be an American when I see something like that.

In a couple of decades from now, I wouldn't be surprised to see America destroyed by a nuclear attack or some dirty bomb take out an entire American city. That's not very likely to happen to Canada IMO! Do you blame me in wanting to feel safe in knowing that my child in school won't be shot by some crazed student a la Columbine H.S. or some terroritst wacko who hates America. Also, I doubt I'll be gunned down in a drive by shooting in Canada or Singapore than I would be in the U.S. BTW, I live in NYC so I see some crazy **** happening all the time here.

Singapore and Holland are almost on opposite ends in regards to social attitudes. Anyway it depends what you're looking for for raising a family. Singapore is a small country and housing prices are high. Also immigrating to Singapore isn't that easy. You better have some marketable skills and from what I've heard and seen from people there life in work in Singapore is fairly stressful and many Singaporeans are looking to immigrate to the US, Canada and Australia where they think there's more opportunity for advancement and a more relaxed lifestyle.

NYC may seem tolerant because of the many different races but in reality it is just like Los Angeles. Some people get along but you have your typical racial divisions and tensions not to mention some nasty incidents. Yes, they are some great people here but there are in the vast minority. You can't really tell anything about a city from watching it on TV or visiting for 2 weeks. The people here are really as*h****s as well. People aren't kidding when they say that New Yorkers are the rudest most self absorbed people in the world--maybe Los Angeles is second or first depending on your choice. Not a very friendly place to live in BTW. Oh, the taxes to support the lazy and the poor people in the city are absolutely ridiculous. It's one of the most expensive places to live anywhere on the world.

I'm sorry for you that your sense of self worth seems to depend on the approval of others. You obviously have a warped view of America so perhaps the best thing is for you to move to another part of the country.

New York is not indicative of America as a whole (not that it seems to matter to you).

I think you are wishing to live in a place that does not exist.

I've been to other parts of the country too, not just NYC. I used to live in West Virginia and spent some time in Ohio and San Antonio as well. West Viriginia is a southerner's paradise--if you know what I mean. Ohio was okay and San Antonio was a nice place except for all the damn crime and violence happening there. Also, Texas is a great place and a great state, although, illegal immigration and rising crime is ruining the place for sure. Damn shame IMO. The only state I would consider to live in this country is the state of Washington. The pace of life is more relaxed up there and I've heard good things about Seattle besides the horrible traffic. Nice place up there from what I'm told.

No, I'm not making this up. I'm a rockets fan and have been since the Moses and Hakeem days. Love Tracy and Yao but hate Jeff Van Gundy. Terrible freakin coach. Moses should tutor Yao and not Patrick.

    Good riddance...

Don't come crying back to us in 20 years when your kids are fighting like hell to get back here for a job because they can't find one in Europe or wherever you end up.

    Good luck

lmao. jisang, I get the feeling that this personal little quest of yours (trying to find a better place to live than the U.S.) is akin to searching for the Holy Grail. Lots of luck to you.

It is so easy to complain and whine; the alternative to this takes *ugh* work on your part.

Hey why should I convince him to stay? It sounds like he is fully capable of making his own decision.

wnes, have you thought about returning to China? Why haven't you done that? According to adeelsiddiqie, that's where all the jobs are going!
