I forgot the name of the photographer but I remember reading a story on that picture when he committed suicide. From what I remember he chased off the bird and stayed there for awhile wrestling with what to do. Apparently he felt tormented by the situation from the beginning and wasn't a matter of him getting the shot and leaving.
There was video footage with that photo that showed the guy climbing on top of one of the tanks and scolding the driver. The guy's friends pull him off of the tank before anything happens to him.
and saddly This one can be debated but it is an unforgettable images not for the reasons it is meant to invoke.
yeah I saw that, a while back I read a lot of stuff about that person, supposedly he was executed a few years later. not sure
This one was the Palestinian kid who was killed when him and his dad got stuck in the middle of a firefight Hitler and mussolini. I remember this one from my social studies book in 5th grade. and on a lighter note
Marine served in the Iraq war, wounded by a suicide bomber in 2004, went home to marry his high school sweetheart. The photographer chronicled her time with them leading up to the wedding, it was a really interesting story. Unfortunately, it's not available on the site anymore. Edit: It was pretty sad considering I don't believe the bride was smiling in any of the pictures (maybe one or two) and in one pic you could see him strain to put together some semblance of a smile. This on gets me too...
